This guy forgetting the fact that a lot of the money is guaranteed and if they get a bad injury they may not recover to receive as good a contract again?
Andrew is well aware. He worked for the Packers in the 2000s after being a GM in NFL Europe.

The NFLPA would be lucky to have him run it.

So obviously there is a trade off. Get the guaranteed money now or risk injury/poor form and get a lower contract in future, or perform just as well or better and get more in the future. At some point the money is enough not to get greedy.

The cap keeps going up and signing 2 deals at 3 or 4 years each will make you more money then the single 7 year deal.

Look at Mahomes when he signed the 10 year deal it looked huge now its not even top 5 money.

And some teams pushing for a qb payment outside the cap for thr next CBA

Yes but then player has a serious injury or 2 in year 3 or 4 or both and doesn't get the 2nd contract or gets a much lower 2nd contract. It's not guaranteed to get a higher paying next contract

The cap has pretty much doubled since 2011 and a $30m increase alone this year.

Elite and highly valued position talent has no issue getting big money & long contracts & large guarantees. They way they're often structured means they can take the money now and also gets redo along the way.

I'd really love to see more players getting more certainty in their contracts, over the top 5% getting more of the cap

Similar to the tech the AFL has been doing trials with. And will use for thr AFLW season with hopes it works well enough to introduce to the AFL next season for score reviews.

Lots of money to protect a bum like Mayfield. Should of traded him for a high pick to get the next QB

Don't expect Trent Williams back anytime soon then?? Probably holding out cos he knew this deal was coming and wants to be highest paid OT again...:rolleyes:

He'll get it. Shanahan needs 5 elite players at his preferred positions. Pay them 70% of your cap, and then have the punter from Coastal Carolina as your starting safety
