Reading the Lions board autopsy I will say they are a better mob than most post-loss. Usually give credit to us, lambast their own failures on the night, don't go blaming the umps and claiming VicBias conspiracy etc etc.

There’s more complaining about the umps in the Richmond oppo watch thread than the bris gameday thread lmao

They’re peppering their angus for next week

So good to have someone of Charlie's quality to get us back in the game, momentum started with him and kept going. So glad we found the switch in the second half, that type of footy will trouble everyone. Glad Harry has a routine to fall back on now, he seems a different beast early this year. Fogarty just keeps surprising, his tackling was a big part of getting back in the game. Hope Carroll kicks on from here, definitely belongs at this level.

Halftime, I thought we would make a slight comeback, but still fall short by 3-4 goals with them pulling up at the line

After that 3rd quarter, thought this is going to be a tough close loss

Great belief by the players

Anyone being honest would agree with this. The tough close loss looked a monty when Saad couldn't hang on to the greasy ball and spilled the mark.

Unbelievable effort really. You and others have butted heads over Russell, but to have us fit enough to do what we did is a real credit to our pre-season as a whole. They had blokes cramping and I didn't notice any of our guys, except maybe Owies, who was understandably underdone.

Brisbane still get us for speed, but we get them when it slows down. The good thing is we have speed to add in Walsh, Motlop, Martin and EH. They can't add much and now lose Coleman.

###FREEKICKCURNOW now doing the rounds again. It's ridiculous. Oppo supporters can't believe he kicked 4 and no free kicks.
I hope he gets all the free kicks he deserves

Which is funny because he probably doesn't get as many frees as he should the way he's handled sometimes. He's a unique beast to combat, and defenders panic (with a few exceptions, there's an opposition defender I can't think of right now, but I know he pretty perfectly handles Charlie).

First half was frustrating, as it seemed we lacked intent, but moreso our setups were inconsistent

We started with real attacking positioning around stoppages and a very high press. During the run of goals, we continued with the attacking positioning at stoppages, but we over corrected our press, sagged off way too much

Mentioned a number of times during that 1st half, we gave their outlet players way too much space, 10-15 metres. There was a noticeable shift with 10 minutes left in the 2nd, we were more on the heals of those players leading into space

2nd half, we setup up more conservatively/defensively at stoppages, our players were goal side of their opponent and had touch on a body

I also thought they were quicker across the ground, but when i checked the stats, they told a different story. We out sprinted them 223 to 186, repeat sprints 21 to 10. We just gave them too much room early on

Yes, we have some elite runners, but to finish a game like that, it confirms that we are very fit. That's difficult to maintain over the season, so the balance will be, being at our best pointy end of the year

Whe Harry was lining up with 90 seconds to go, you just knew the media had it penciled as a miss and had their headlines and talking points ready for the next day.

Recon a good proportion would have been disappointed he got it as they love a good pile on and sink the boots in.
Wouldn't surprise me sadly.

Seeing a guy overcome his inner demons especially under severe pressure in front of thousands of people should be an inspiring thing and much more worthy of talking about.

It reminded me a lot off the Gold Coast game at the G last year. (our turning point)

But obviously a much tougher gig up there.

Absolute shite early and they were just awesome.

But then like last year we flicked a switch and WOW.

We absorbed their best and then counterpunched with pressure and determination that
they simply could not match.

This is very exciting.......WE CAN BEAT ANYBODY NOW!
