USA 2024 US Presidential Election: Trump vs Biden II

The election is a referendum on Biden, that's why.
The election is a referendum on democracy. January 6, 2021 was just the beginning. Republicans know where they failed. They won't make those mistakes again.

Are you another nutter who genuinely thinks that democracy in the US is at risk? Over 500 elected representatives (House and Senate) plus all of their staff and lobby groups know the dance and go through the motions as it benefits them all.

None of them are going to risk that being taken away.

It’s not going to be ended in one foul swoop, just eroded over time, frog in boiling water approach.

So people like you go “hey nothing bad happened after xxx, it’s all good”.

1. There's too much money in "democracy" for it to be eroded. Everyone knows the dance and the dance steps and they wont tolerate change. Even if Trump goes rouge, a 2/3 majority will unwind any potential damage.

2. It's One Fell Swoop. I'm not trying to diminish your comment or poke fun at you. Just thought you'd like to know.

The irony of 2. when you speak of Trump going rouge.

It won't happen, he's committed to orange.

Hate to correct you but the swoop will be quite foul.

The dems are between a rock and a hard place. Biden has never come across as a selfish, hubristic man, so the only explanation for his determination to run again is very poor judgment. Older people can be unwilling to acknowledge their limitations…and some, I assume, are good people ;)

I would like to hear a thorough and candid explanation from Biden about what the hell happened after a week of debate prep. Did any of his lackies tell him not to stand there with his mouth agape like a guppie fish at feeding time? Did anyone suggest he keep his answers brief to avoid losing his train of thought and sounding incoherent? Or did he receive excellent coaching and forget every-goddamn-thing?

Look at what’s going on in Hungary over the last decade with Orban for an instructional guide of what Trump and his enablers are after.

You think so? I am on a pretty wide variety of sites following this, Biden voters aren't not going to vote because of this debate because they worry about Roe V Wade and what happens going forward, and the Trump supporters aren't not voting for Trump.

We might see less voters because voters who are genuinely undecided might just totally opt out of the election altogether but I don't see it making any more or less a difference to the vote than the last debate these two had.
If more undecided voters opt out of voting then Biden loses. It's that ****ing simple. Poor turn out means Trump wins.

Trump could be in jail by September.
There is 0% chance he is going to jail for the New York case. Literally zero

As a lefty (one who more aligns with Bernie Sanders), I just shake my head at the big name Democrats (Obama, Hillary, etc) who on social media are trying to defend Biden's performance and think everything is OK.

The debate was nothing but a disaster for Biden and the Democrats.

Yes, Trump lied his arse off, and yes, Biden outlined polices (albeit poorly) while Trump didn't, but none of that matters.

Going into the debate, Trump didn't need to win over undecided voters. He just had to show he was the same Trump as his 2016 and 2020 debate performances to satisfy his cult like base. He did that and will again have a sizeable number of Republicans come out to vote for him in November.

Biden had the bigger burden. Their were fears heading into the debate that his age was really catching up with him. He had to have a clear, direct and well spoken argument put forward to convince the undecideds and more apathetic voters to come out and support him.

Instead, what undecided and apathetic voters (and the more generally politically disengaged) saw was an old man struggling to fight back against a BS artist. They would have walked away with a sense of "ugh, they're both as bad as each other" and no motivation to come out and vote in November.

Dems always need those independent voters to come out in big numbers to beat the larger Republican base. They won't be getting them after that debate performance.

Trump was doped to his eyeballs on stimulants during that debate. It's obvious. Just focus in on his pupil dilation.
His team seems to dope him up whenever necessary.

So Biden couldn't win a debate against a doped up felon.

No wonder he's at Camp David considering stepping down.

If Biden steps down what are people's excuses for still supporting Trump going to be?
Because the Democrats lied about Biden’s decline for several years. And therefore cannot be trusted.

It would also be seen as a very cynical move at such a late stage. They had to do it months ago.

They were both on drugs and both wearing adult nappies, what a world we live in!

That he's awesome?

The fact checking of Trump is just a cope atm.

His “lies” during the debate were well within the bounds of political embellishment.

They were completely insignificant in the greater scheme, and nobody is going to be persuaded to vote for a dementia patient instead.

And if you want to be hung up on lies during debates, let’s start with the Hunter laptop denials. The coordinated coverup between the intelligence services and media of a true story, which they knew to be true at the time.

Thirty four felony convictions, a civil finding of rape and trillions of dollars of debt left over from his last Presidency doesn't convince you that he might not be the man to be left with the nuclear codes?

The state of US politics is a genuine train wreck & joke. How can a country of that size not produce a reputable candidate out of 330Million people.

I thought the Aussie system was bad enough.

OK, grab a list of his lies and explain them away individually. Just a sample I've looked at were plainly wrong, not just a political take on an issue or a smidge outside the lines. They were wrong and his team would know they were wrong.

These comments are so funny when you think of the progeny of them. The Biden admin has been doing this to make Biden appear functional for the past four years. That has led to Republicans correctly questioning the Democrat processes and illusions. Left wing trolls and sycophants online then accuse Republicans of doing the same thing and it ends up filtering back to nice people like you who legitimately think Trump is stimulated up. Laughable.

For a variety of reasons hardly anyone cares about the convictions.

Unfortunately, nobody cares about the debt either. And Biden spent way too much as well so it is not a winning point.

Can we move on from the nuclear code hysteria?

Guessing you are probably partial to the Democrats. Are you impressed with what they have done here?
