List Mgmt. 2025 AFL Draft

Huge stat stuffing performance from one of the elite tall prospects in the 2025 pool. CDT displayed his typical Brodie Grundy impersonation in the ruck with his elite ground level impact and ability to find the ball on the spread, getting involved in attacking ball movement. He wasn't always a dominant aerialist in his bottom age season, but in this game he showed that he's capable of taking a strong contested grab.

I’ve hedged my bets

Placed bonus bet on north making finals at $16

Either bottom or 8th pls!
You bet that North will make Finals!

It's possible. But I am not sure you heging bet is money well spent.

I meant I either want them to finish bottom 2 or bet them to make finals…

Which I think $16 is a really good price, they can def make it with their draw

Yeah I know. But I also reckon they face a major problem making finals, actually a few problems all rolled into one.

Their culture and leadership are problematic.

Their forward line is poor, and they haven't done anything about that. They scored more easily once inside forward 50 than anyone else. Presumably because it was such a shock that defences were too slack on them. But surely teams will know that and have put time into shutting down North's offence.

It'll take Carko being brilliant to work out how to make a fantastic midfield group = finals. He's good, but that good?

Anyway, good luck on the bet. I reckon bottom 4 is likely. Hopefully bottom 2.

The other thing we need to factor in, is we will have Lynch's huge contract gone after this season, which will have us with so much extra cap room with the majority of our list being very young. We will be able to buy some very good picks over the next 2-3 seasons before Tassie come in, why other teams try & retain their star players to keep out of the clutches of The new Tassie team & other teams looking at trading in big names from other teams.. So I like where we will be positioned if we can seriously take advantage of the next few years of keeping our salary cap as low as possible, before the young guns start pushing for larger contracts & it also gives us the advantage of not overpaying to keep us in the AFL's salary minimum cap for players that aren't quite at the star status yet.
Can categorically guarantee you that is the clubs strategy and there is nothing the AFL or other clubs can do about it. We will not be outbid by anyone, and now have the best salary cap coming into the last two uncompromised drafts of any club. We will be buying picks left right an centre, and doing so until our young core can play finals off it's own back (ala Richmond 2013) and then we will begin to trade in players and FA top up.

The 2024 trade period and the way Blair traded out Rioli & Bolton indicates that we are wanting a massive war chest in 2-3 years time . Blair refused to pay any of Rioli & Bolton salaries and the retirements / Delistings of players like
Dusty , Grimes , Pickett along with Rioli , Bolton , Baker , Graham there is $5 million in that lot that are no longer on the books then you have the cap increase $3 mill thats $8 mil surplus there to front end all the contracts currently on the books and going into 2026/27 Richmond will have the biggest War Chest ever seen in the AFL

Yeah hence why they are 16-1 to make it

I had bonus bets to use anyway

When you say buying picks, do you mean 'buying players'? It could be my sun stroke talking, but how can you swap salary cap for picks in the draft without trading a player?

I'm back for 2025, hopefully you're not sick of me yet. Hope everyone had a great break and feel refreshed and reloaded.

Possibly Fred's best performance of the 2024 Champs series. His clean hands, creative and attacking decision making and ability to execute his skills at a high level were all on show here.

He’s our Sheezel or Day cos

We are doing a pod tomorrow night as Tiger71 has some small bits on exactly this.

We are playing 4D chess.

Effectively a club with salary cap constraints will be able to trade out a draft pick for cap space from another club

e.g
Richmond trade $1 mil of cap space over a 2 year period ($500k over 2 years ) to a club like say Gold Coast and get lets say pick #10 (im just making numbers up for this example)
