Based on what I've just read, pick purchasing isn't a thing for end of 2025 and wasn't included in changes for end of 2026.

The afl would have to relook at it and bring it in if it's going to be a thing.

Which means we may have to just lure free agents and tie them up on big dollars.

Thrillem Duursma put together a strong performance here for the Power. Having been tried in a variety of roles thoughout the year he looked to have settled into to playing a combo mid/fwd role late in the season which fits his dynamic and versatile skill set. If he can find more consistency with his disposal by foot he could prove to be a serious contender for the first pick in the 2025 draft.

I didn't think they approved the pick purchasing? I know Cal Twomey was pushing for it but I don't think it got up for 2025, i could be wrong but it isn't mentioned in the below article.

Had a look. The AFL said they were postive about it, and it was reported to come in this year. But I couldn't find an actual statement that it will come in in 2025. So you are right.

Typical AFL, announce something and then not follow through. Or maybe they will.

How do you plan for all this if you are a club? Hopefully it is all works out and we can pillage the draft again.

Doesnt matter if it comes in or not we still have a strong hand with 2 top end picks and Kellaway this year
We could also take a salary dump of sorts for a pick #7 like geelong / GC scam

Or we just go and get a free agent that fits our need

Don't stress about clubs planning for it, I'm sure the AFL has already let Geelong know exactly what is going on and given them an opportunity to play around with things before they bring it in
