Had to take him out due to the early bye. So frustrating, can’t afford to have 3 players on the same bye in one line
Yep, that Round 3 is going to be trickier than a lot of people give it credit for just yet. It's probably more worthy of the extra trade than say Round 13!

I do wonder if its worth starting 3 on that bye for the Mills, Roberts and Coleman combo and just taking a 0 and go with 21 that week, one of the 50's probably drops out anyway, while you have the 15+ points upside per week over someone with 5-10 max.

Not saying ill do it but could be worth the risk.

Coleman might not even be ready for round 1 which in that case will make everyone’s defences a little different. I’m here for it if so

I also wonder if Roberts role will be affected by the proper return of a fit Mills or if Mills mainly plays midfield. I’ve seen some on the Sydney board mention he might even see wing time. Can you shed any light Zevon

Same for me, he scored better when he was playing off half back earlier in the year, once he went into the middle his scores suffered. Fingers crossed Baz coming in means he can stay off half back or the wing
Holmes first selected for me. Slow end to the year makes him a cheap D1. Early bye hurts but will also allow him to be unique.
Unless he gets 110+ OR (pls don’t)

Can straight up guarantee that Holmes will be a near perma mid next year. Humphries coming in and being a revelation, allowed us to pull that lever. He might do stints if needed, but him and Smith are becoming besties off the field, and they both look to be the 10 year future of our midfield + Bruhn, Knevitt and Clark.

Basically, Holmes ain't it this year, if you're hoping he scores like he did when he was in the backline. Won't be there much, if at all, IMO.

Yikes relying on Zevon for advice. Very early for delete team stage 😬

Still scored pretty well in the middle didn’t he? Just needs to harden up a bit and get a few more tackles.

Most of his issue was getting stuck on the bench last year as he usually started the 4th on the bench and basically never got on if the game was iced.

Had him all year and no matter where he was playing I remember him being 80-90 at 3QT without fail and then faded to low 100s.

Feel like he’s great value because the extra 10 points a game didn’t feel that far away for him.

Mills is on my chopping block from the 3 I think. I feel like we’re getting sucked in again. Hasn’t been a consistent scorer for years now and has only had 2 good years his entire career. May change with a new coach but he’s still too versatile. Priced at 69 makes it low risk but there’s a chance he only puts 5-10 points on that, which probably isn’t going to do it given he misses a week.

Would be surprised if Mills has a predictable role sadly. If I had to guess I’d say he chops and changes between defence and wing based on whatever the need is that week. Very occasionally might pinch hit in the middle; reckon he only spends longer chunks there if we have an injury or the other mids are getting smashed.

Having said that, we have a new coach so who tf knows.

Still don’t think you can really go wrong for the price. He’s not going to lose money by underperforming what he’s priced at, so if he’s only scoring moderately then act swiftly and punt him to somebody else who’s making money. Round 0 sighter is handy for this too.

Happy new year tigs! Did they let you out of the nursing home for a couple of hours so you could see the 9pm fireworks or did Phar Ace’s antics the year before ruin that for everybody?

No comment and team?

Happy New Year to you too!

Mills was the main midfield guy for Sydney before Heeney and the emergence of Warner/Gulden.

Hopefully if he's fully fit he goes straight back in the middle and returns to his previous form. I think he offers more than Rowbottom, Florent or whoever else they might want in there.

Pretty much all of those bar Florent have gone past him as midfielders now though, so I doubt he’s ever going to be the main midfield guy again. Rowbottom is underrated externally but the Swans love his work as a defensive mid and I’d be surprised if they would want Mills in there ahead of him, especially if there’s a hole to plug in defence on any given week.

Time will tell of course, and despite all of the above he’s in my team at the moment purely because the value is hard to ignore.

Any sign / hint of a new game plan at all? Any info on whether swans become a better fantasy scoring side or shitter is what I’m trying to say

Yeah no idea yet sadly. Cox made some vague allusion to “changing a few things” but no idea if that’s even real or just one of those things that a new coach says. And even if it is real, who knows what he’d change. Watch this space basically

Very helpful. Thanks 👍

Swans shat the bed in the grand final and their coach said enough is enough and walked out. I would be expecting an overhaul.
Let’s not go overboard Baz. I wouldn’t be expecting a major overhaul personally

Would’ve thought the complete opposite with the acquisition of Smith they would have Holmes in the back position where his score favoured. So I appreciate the run down!

Jack Nicholson Thank You GIF

I think how he trains will be a huge guide - new coach will put his imprimatur on it. Has already said it after reviewing the Grand Final, "It was tough to watch........". On the game plan changes, "we'll change a fair bit of it......the best sides in the world defend really well first."

I reckon we should be making the game harder so i like all the byes. Its become to easy double chances at Captain pick and so forth look at the farward line this year everyone will have the identical one from the start. I'm for making it harder limit the trades no loop holes sure there could be a few other things they could do to make it harder.

Agree with you - generic teams is taking the fun out of it - then add all these podcasts and experts and site features and it loses it's early challenges and delights. Wait til the Classic site goes under a whole new re-write next season - will it be harder, goodness knows, but I'm tipping it will be even more vanilla before long as well.
