JHF, Macrae, Phillipou, B.Smith, C.Daniel, E.Hewett

Will be a very popular starting 6 if they all get through pre season positively.

JHF is a maybe for me, he may not have huge upside with Butters, Rozee, Wines and Drew getting midfield time. He might be just what you pay for which is fine too.
Ive got a couple of others ive got my eye on anyway

Yeh at this stage I'd say Smith, Phillipou (surely he keeps the role he ended the year with) and Daniel (if half back) are the biggest locks.

Macrae is really role dependent. If he's best 22 in the middle, he's in.

JHF I think is priced at his worst case scenario. Question is how much he improves. Might only be a couple of points upside, at which case I'm not sure it's worth the price. Particularly when you have guys in the midfield available for a similar price capable of getting closer to 100 than JHF.

Anyone think Zane Duursma is worth a look? priced at 36, had a heap of vests in there.
Should be an improving North side, surely he can go 50+?

Hes almost rookie price but hes a former pick 3 with a year under his belt, even as a bench option?

Where does he play though? Would be an excellent shout with the right role.

Id imagine some sort of half forward role.
For North, Ford averaged 54, Curtis averaged 57 and Zurhaar averaged 66 last year

If North improve like most expect them to then that half forward role should be a bit more fruitful. If he takes Fords points for example, plus a bit on top, thatd be a win I think

There arent a whole lot of cheap forwards worth looking at, Hewett and Curtin the more popular ones, then its pretty bare.
Probably Kako and Berry are your best 2 small fwd rookies? for 70k more you get Duursma.

At least Duursma has had a year in the system lol

Hmm. It's an interesting thought. He has to outscore Kako by 7 points to make it worthwhile, which is certainly possible.

Did actually have him in my first team but had money for Maric so went there for now.

Reckon he's best 22 ?
He's probably player 23 of 23 now with Baker, Graham and Owies coming in but he absolutely deserves a spot pending what Mini has in store for him

Macrae is a guy who’s averaged 120 and 115 x 2 before. Sure, he’s older and slower but he’s priced at 70 odd, that's with 4 sub scores in his average, 3 of those being under 40, and sought a trade for more opportunity. If he plays predominantly mid there’s no reason why he can’t go 90+, which makes him an easy pick for mine, especially in the forward line. Good durability too.

He's 30 years old, has clearly lost a step and will only get worse from here. I was iffy on picking him myself. Then I saw St Kilda's CBA attendances last year.

Treloar, Newman, Whitfield, Gawn, Zorko, Neal all had great years and all over 30 not sure over 30 means all that much but i could be wrong.
For sure. Possible not probable.

Near enough all right up there for top scorers last year.
For every quarter they play (read, "survive") one of your hair's either turns grey or falls out though.
Training and or pre game injury scares,
"fitness tests",😨
"running laps away from the main group", 😰
"left the track early" 🤯

Concerned by how many players got a run through the guts? I reckon that suggests Ross was trying to find a mix he liked. I can see Steele, Phillipou, Macrae and Windy being the main 4, with Sinclair having stints through the middle.

More so the core group in 2024 being terrible. I expect the same group you listed for 2025.
