Traders were doing a bit of a trade period breakdown on their Patreon and after little hesitation they slipped quickly into Daniel, Macrae and Smith all being locks. Smith obviously is, and Daniel may be depending on his role, but I can't see myself going back to Macrae at this stage. I suspect there will be a big push for a midfield consisting of the "three former dogs" in the casual crowd though.
I wasn't sold on Macrae last year and avoided him. He had a couple of good weeks but I feel on the whole it was a good decision. I can't see him playing a significant fantasy-friendly role for the Saints.

Only point I'd make on Macrae ....he didn't agree to join SAINTS to play HFF .....Rossy will give him early opportunities, Seb Ross is gone ....and his price will be enticing

Priced at 71, you'd want at least 90 from him. Would need full midfield time to do it.

Thursday / Friday Night Fixture Announcement:

OR: Brisbane Lions v Geelong, and Sydney Swans v Hawthorn
R1: Richmond v Carlton, and Hawthorn v Essendon
R2: Carlton v Hawthorn, and Western Bulldogs v Collingwood
R3: Essendon v Port Adelaide and Carlton v Western Bulldogs
R4: Collingwood v Carlton, and Geelong v Melbourne
R5: Adelaide v Geelong, and Collingwood v Sydney
R6: Brisbane v Collingwood, and North Melbourne v Carlton
R7: Melbourne v Richmond, and Collingwood v Essendon
R8: Essendon v North Melbourne, and St Kilda v Fremantle
R9: Fremantle v Collingwood, and St Kilda v Carlton
R10: Gold Coast v Hawthorn, and Sydney v Carlton
R11: Geelong v Western Bulldogs and Essendon v Richmond
R12: Brisbane v Essendon, and Collingwood v Hawthorn
R13: Western Bulldogs v Hawthorn, and Adelaide v Brisbane
R14: St Kilda v Western Bulldogs, and Hawthorn v Adelaide
R15: Fremantle v Essendon, and Geelong v Brisbane

A few notable common recurring teams, particularly early are:
  • Collingwood (7x before Round 12),
  • Carlton (7x before Round 10),
  • Essendon (7x before Round 15).
  • Hawthorn (7x before Round 15)
Call me old fashioned but I like to get my Captains / Vice Captains out of the way before Saturday morning to reduce the impact on late outs and other changes

Would you take into account vice captaincy loop hole options for any of these teams. Would the Thursday Night and Friday Night for Carlton (Sam Walsh), Collingwood (Nic Daicos) or Essendon (Zach Merret) twist your arm in terms of selecting any of those players potentially as your captaincy option. Are there any captaicy options for premiums available from Hawthorn? Potentially not, but it makes Sicily even more of a lock as an underpriced Defender Premium.

I say it to myself every year, and most of the time I end up ignoring it.

But have 2 players in your team that are VC and C options, and then just go value across the board.

Last year I thought I had those players in Daicos and T.Green. But unfortunately neither proved to be reliable options at their price.
Me too, I say to myself "stop playing this stupid game", giving up alcohol was much easier!

tigs2010 are you and the rookie whisperer going again?

Yeah I'll be back for more punishment. Not sure if she will. She's moved on to tin-arsing multiple prizes and raffles so might be too good for us now 🤣🤣

Bye Structure:
Rnd 2: 2 Byes
Rnd 3: 4 Byes
Rnd 4: 2 Byes

Rnd 12: 4 Byes
Rnd 13: 2 Byes
Rnd 14: 4 Byes
Rnd 15: 4 Byes
Rnd 16: 4 Byes

Last year when we had the pre-byes we had best 18 but only 2 trades. Then we had 3x trades through the four bye rounds (even though one was only 2 teams on a bye).

I suspect based on the above, that they will go with: Best 18 throughout all these rounds, but will only have 3 trades during rounds 3, 12, 14, 15 or 16 when there are four teams on byes. That would be one more week with 3 trades than last year. Which I think sounds reasonable.

The other alternative would be to have 3x trades all through the mid byes, including the round with only 2 trades, but that would result in 6 rounds of 3x trades and therefore 2 more trades than last year, which I suspect is too far.

Updated to include Friday Nights as well. Carlton, Collingwood and Essendon own weeknight footy, with Hawthorn given a big dose too.

Freo and Saints with the dream bye. Makes Macrae, Phillipou, Marshall (as a C option), Brayshaw, Johnson/Erasmus all potential good options.

Traders seem to indicate that it will be 3x trades across the middle byes (including the 2 team week), but then just the normal 2 trades across the early byes. Makes it harder to pick any one on Brisbane, Collingwood, Geelong and Sydney (or at least multiple of them). Bailey Smith, Coleman... could you select any more? Rules out Daicos as a premium option.

How do we feel about rookies after last night?

Lalor
 O'Sullivan
Smith
Draper
Ashcroft
Langford
Smillie
Travaglia
Lombard
 Tauru

:crossmark: :crossmark: Reid

Ashcroft, Langford, Smith and Lombard interest me. Lalor for job security but I won't be expecting a tonne of output. Smilie the same. Don't know how Draper goes in Adelaide's midfield. Could be an option. Don't know much about Travaglia, if he's a defender he might have a spot. Doubt O'Sullivan has the chops unless he is forward and he has good job security which is questionable.

Lalor I'll probably only pick if he's a forward. He's straight into the rehab group to do a proper pre-season and build slow.

Smillie will be the pick for us if they're both mid only.

Smith & Ashcroft pick themselves and the clubs were kind to tank Ashcroft's starting price for us lol. Draper should fit here too.

Travaglia should play and be a nice D6.

Depending on how his concussions are I think Trainor may play early as a rebounding defender for us.

Lindsay for the Dees if he's a defender in this an option too.

Was she talking in her sleep when you made these notes?
