To me, it’s a no-brainer.. The only way you can make it different is selecting a third premium ruck.
That’s because you lack grey matter you stupid campaigner. To me, it’s a no-brainer.
Unless I'm reading this wrong, and that's a distinct possibility, if a Premo Ruck is your Flex, wouldn't you need a playing Ruck or R/F at R3.
If your Flex ruck cops a 2week injury and you don't want to use a trade, then only R3 can be used as your Flex or a Fwd if you play a R/F at R3.
However if you put a Premo D/M or M/F as your Flex, you have all the Premos from those lines to choose from in the same scenario. I would have thought Premo Def and Mids would score higher than R3 Rucks or Fwds on average.
Or does this whole Flex thing just come down to team structure and/or personal choice.
No. If C is lowest score it drops out. What happens if your Captain is injured early during the game and is the lowest score in your team. When the Flexi player replaces him does he become Captain and does his score gets doubled?
Also, I'm fairly certain you don't get your VC doubled in this situation. If C is on field, and plays, and doesn't make your Top 22 (or 18 in byes), bad luck.No. If C is lowest score it drops out.
Well, it stands to reason some people out there may think that because your C doesn't count, that you'd get your VC doubled...
OK...I give in......what's SD....Flex = the highest scoring guy with the lowest SD in your squad. Simples
I'm leaning towards zerret or bont to begin with so in can fit I another good mid rookie. As my team gets closer to complete switch to a third ruck. That way I get a good look at who is likely to be top 3 rucks.Flex = the highest scoring guy with the lowest SD in your squad. Simples
Standard deviation.OK...I give in......what's SD....
I'm considering moving Sinclair from Flex to D1 in place of Clark (Freo) and Maxy to Flex, if P/Season warrants it...I have Read (R/F) at R3Standard deviation.
Consistency.
You want to lock in a good score each week.
If you aren't putting an extra ruck there, surely a player with DPP like BSmith or Daniel seems like the best option to me, allows extra flexibility and they should outscore all your bench rookies.I'm leaning towards zerret or bont to begin with so in can fit I another good mid rookie. Daniel good for consistency if he picks up a seagull role. Sniff, too many 50s and 60s. He's likely to be the score that's dropped. If you aren't putting an extra ruck there, surely a player with DPP like BSmith or Daniel seems like the best option to me, allows extra flexibility and they should outscore all your bench rookies.
Agreed, it just needs to be a player that beats your bench rookies.Unless it's a ruck it makes no difference you'll have the same amount of rookies/premos scoring each week
Smith will be playing on ball this year, reckon he'll go well.Daniel good for consistency if he picks up a seagull role. Sniff, too many 50s and 60s. He's likely to be the score that's dropped.
I don't think dpp there is super valuable. My team ussually ends up with heaps of dpp. Consistency is everything dpp to help with trades has a minimal effect. If you aren't putting an extra ruck there, surely a player with DPP like BSmith or Daniel seems like the best option to me, allows extra flexibility and they should outscore all your bench rookies.
If you in my case have Bont M1 and Smilie Flex or change it to Bont Flex and Smilie M8 you still get the exact same score,Agreed, it just needs to be a player that beats your bench rookies.

Agreed, I think we might be over-thinking the Flex position. If you in my case have Bont M1 and Smilie Flex or change it to Bont Flex and Smilie M8 you still get the exact same score,
As long as you have a dpp player in the midfield line you'll be able to use the flex for more cover early if needed but at the end of the day it's just an extra high priced rookie on field unless you go a 4th ruck
Pending injuries will only become more of a tactic post main byes for extra premo/loop optionAgreed, I think we might be over-thinking the Flex position.
In the end you want a gun mid or ruck there imo. But it's just to protect us from an injury/sub score. As you say it makes no difference how you arrange your players.
What happens if your flex player scores less than on field player??
