Reckon you are right, or at least he gets subbed out
I dont think they bother to play Smith if only as sub. They'd be better served just giving him the extra week if thats the case. If named he starts and finishes the game barring injury.

Why don't they give guys a week in the VFL first? Can go full pace or 3/4 pace as they see fit.

You referring to the Cats' pair or in general?
If they are both on modified programs and haven't been able to train properly all week, seems odd to risk them. Assume Stewart at minimum won't be risked in the end, but who knows?

I do have Stewart, and even if pulls out, or subbed, it’s not worth a trade …. it would simply stall your team upgrade, for the sake of a weeks holding
