I cant believe I spent 10 minutes catching up on this thread.

The AFLW is a valuable and growing part of the sport. We won the flag and are great to watch. We have an excellent men’s off field crew.

Now get back to footy.

you don’t have to support the women but you can’t take away what they have achieved. They’ve managed to do something the men haven’t done in over 25 years and have brought some excitement to the club, yet alone helped improve membership numbers and will help increase the clubs profit next year through their premiership merchandise.
I for one only watched the finals series but went to Arden st the next day and whilst I wish the men could do the same, it was still an amazing feeling being there and seeing how much their flag meant to this club

I hope people have noticed that we do have female members and supporters, and that maybe if we did not have an AFLW team, those members and supporters would maybe prefer to support a different club that sought to represent them. Along with others who want their club to represent their ideals.

And what would our sponsors, like Mazda, think if we did not have an AFLW team or support it properly.

So maybe having an AFLW team does contribute to the club as a whole, including our AFLM team.

i havent spotted it yet so here's the solution to your membership dollars being spent on women:

Call them up and explain, somehow with a straight face, that you feel entitled to dictate how your money is spent once it leaves your hands. Not that you have the choice to do it or not and thats where your agency ends, that you specifically need clearance on where it goes.

After the awkward pause they will likely ask if there is any concerns that you have about the membership money. Be as direct and short as possible: women.

They may then explain to you that all the football teams are part of the one club. Don't get distracted by that, keep on explaining to them how it's specifically the women that you don't like so they need to stop spending your money on them. Sure, you enjpyed the undefeatwd season and the premiership that they won, but come on, we can't be spending money on that?

By this stage they will prpbably offer you the opportunity to cancel your memebership. And here we have found the solution.

The reasons the men are the men are going less well than they should be are a whole combination of factors and some of them stretch back a decade or more. The AFLW team have no influence on the drafting and recruiting decisions made 10-15 years ago or on the fact that between the start of 2019 and end of 2023 we had six changes of coach. (One of our best players, one of the two or three most talented since Carey, making their place in the club untenable didn't help either.)

That's why we have been so shithouse.
