Not that it means anything currently, but they certainly have defenders playing as defenders etc, Chom was down back in this drill before

Big news for those of us in the 'Comben should play in defense' camp.

Love your work StazMob, however your avatar lead me to read every post in Gary Neville's voice with a tone of bewilderment.
The gif really symbolizes what's taken place in this thread the past couple weeks haha - glad we are back to some normality now

Really appreciate the reports.

Coaches must have changed their minds over Chom since early October. Was earmarked to play forward then, but maybe the Dawson and Chom surgeries (and their timelines) changed their minds.

Maybe Darling is staring them in the face

Really think he'll be a genuine swingman. R1 against JUH, Naughton and Darcy he could play back and Teakle plays ruck/forward. Other weeks against shorter forward lines he plays ruck/forward and it's just Corr and Griff down back.

Even in-game we could deploy him either end on need and use the sub to change structure.

The unbridled relief after reading an actual training report on the training thread.

I know its Jan 9th but i feel like I just won something.
With Comben training back, I wouldn't be so sure. Sure we need him back as well, but you really just lost - I don't know what exactly but none of us are winners with that move - given the state of our forward half defensive pressure, I'd say half back flankers the League over are the real winners.

Back to the drawing board at first glance of such nonsense. We have W Dawson and Whitlock eventually for that 3rd Tall role, we currently have diddly squat at CHF.

Sorry to be such a Debbie but how we can go from W. Carey to this situation is beyond all football sanity. If it weren't so diabolical, you could possibly laugh.

I saw the final hour only but some random observations :

Teakle looked fit and strong and is probably benefitting from a proper preseason. He's a specimen.

Whitlock is slight but he's very nimble and mobile for such a tall player. Decent kick too. They'd be quietly happy with him.

Logue and Darling are bulky units. They should crunch a few.

Urquhart runs on top of the ground and has got some grunt.

Quite a few players gravitated to big X during breaks - I'd say his profile has grown amongst the players.

Parker has a definite aura about him on the track. Interesting that most players stayed back for some goal kicking drills down the City end and Harry made a beeline for him.

If humility is a cornerstone of leadership, then George has it in spades. He took it upon himself to collect all the poles at the end of the session while the rest of them were strutting around like roosters. Lol.

Some good signs.

Are you saying you wish none of it had ever happened? So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide.

So true.

I am reminded of the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise.

The Darling decision didn’t change the chom decision much.

We were going with the three talls (one being a part ruck) before the season finished. Darling replaces Pink, that leaves Teakle as that part ruck/forward, which isn’t ideal.

Chom was originally slated as that chf/part ruck with Dawson taking chb with Logue and Corr, but that appears to have changed, at least into a more genuine swingman role.

Don’t mind it tbh. Just want him to have a full season. Fingers crossed.

No SW was a welcome diversion compared to the toxic quagmire that this thread had become…again

I know Downie is keen to get back on a senior list but I am not sure what his point of difference is. I could be wrong but I see him as being similar to Wilphil and we already got rid of Laz who was a similar type player.
The thing is we used a decent pick to trade in the exact same player in Stephens - actually he might be worse than Downie
