Training 2025 Pre-Season - Standards are currently being driven

I saw the final hour only but some random observations :

Teakle looked fit and strong and is probably benefitting from a proper preseason. He's a specimen.

Whitlock is slight but he's very nimble and mobile for such a tall player. Decent kick too. They'd be quietly happy with him.

Logue and Darling are bulky units. They should crunch a few.

Urquhart runs on top of the ground and has got some grunt.

Quite a few players gravitated to big X during breaks - I'd say his profile has grown amongst the players.

Parker has a definite aura about him on the track. Interesting that most players stayed back for some goal kicking drills down the City end and Harry made a beeline for him.

If humility is a cornerstone of leadership, then George has it in spades. He took it upon himself to collect all the poles at the end of the session while the rest of them were strutting around like roosters. Lol.

Some good signs.
good to hear regarding teakle, rate him

has an important role to play

He’s > 35 year old Darling
Has nowhere near the game sense and craft of Darling, and while we could definitely do with some more genuine big bloke targets that are threats, actually having a forward line functioning properly would be a big improvement for us. The club will put it on Darling to help organise the other forwards and then run (jog) his arse off to create opportunities for everyone else.

Top handful were Tucker, Logue, Sheez and a fella I'm not too sure who it is.

Goater finished a fair bit behind the rest of the pack. Goad came steaming home really hard, as did Darling who knocked off a few younger boys, caught me off guard a little lol.
Great to see Josh is back and doing time trials. Recovery must have gone well :thumbsu:

When is this getting announced
I wonder if any announcement has been delayed on account of Jy - our 2024 co captain - being absent from training? It would seem wrong to announce him as captain in his absence and equally disrespectful to announce a new captain (not Jy) in his absence, I'd think...

Went along for about 20mins today ( working) not a lot to add just saw the drills with the three groups before they left the ground and I pissed off, Jack Dealing is a solid looking guy and from what I did see looks like he is fitting in nicely also just repeating what Stazmob has already said, the new recruits look very sharp.

I did take some video on my phone but I am not technical enough to share sorry.

Good to hear MA 👍 finally we’ve gotten rid of those under ground runners…. Only kidding.

On another note, the players look lean. I’m not saying particularly ‘prime’ or ‘units’, but from Powell to Zuurhar (Lmac still looks like year one pre-season), they’re all looking a bit more like aerobic endurance beasts.

Urquhart's caused the last 2 turnovers. He closes space well. Fitness permitting, he'll feature early I reckon.
There's always a team that picks up a kid in the late stages of the draft who comes in and looks a star from the get go.

I'm hoping this year it's us and SuperLuke

I don't know a lot about 35 year old Jack Darling but hopefully the 32 year old Jack Darling we have on the books helps our forward line function better

When you look at the list, we’re almost at the point of being choc full of talent. Just a handful of positions to fill to hit saturation point. Feels like we might be getting to the good stuff people.

We have one of the best lists we’ve had for yearssssss. The depth is ridiculous.

The extra additions to steady to ship is going to be massive. So many people are underestimating us and the impact that experience will bring.

We will win way more games than people think. I reckon closer to the 8 💙

Luke Davies-Uniacke - left track early with a minor Knee complaint

Caleb Daniel dealing with some hamstring awareness
