Our talent is still too inexperienced. Might be another year or two
Absolute cop-out. This was Hawthorn at the start of last year.

A much bigger problem than inexperience is that we only have about five players who play like they steadfastly believe in themselves to win games

LOL look at their senior group compared to ours. Comparing oranges with lumps of turds

We had a capable leader in Jy but his brain was turned to scrambled eggs. I know how much you hate him but I'm not having a bar of it. He held the club up throughout '21 and '22. Corr and Comben also both have leadership traits, and both had decent seasons last year. Larkey seems like a leader in every aspect except the way he actually plays. 198cm and can't take a contested mark. Hmm.

We don't have anyone remotely in the leadership vicinity of Sicily, that's true, but he started out as a petulant, emotionally volatile campaigner, so who's to say we don't have someone who can step up. The Dawks have also been blessed by the arrivals of Newcombe and Ginnivan, who both take charge when they see fit. No reason why we can't find younger players to emulate that. We've found one already.

Our issues started as poor training standards/stagnation and absolutely cascaded from there. Some would argue our issues started in 2002. At any rate, to hear these pre-emptive excuses from you whilst you campaign for the women to be stripped of what meagre resources they receive is absurd. There's nothing stopping these campaigners from being competitive in 18/23 games, and winning 10/11 of those, if they really want it. The high of winning with a united group that feels like it's on its way to greener pastures is absolutely intoxicating.

I dont hate him. He cant kick and is a bog average midfielder. His brain wasn’t scrambled eggs, making excuses.

Was a good captain for morale at the time.

Our senior group is mud compared to Hawthorns and that right there is why you can’t compare.

I have Jy as a high half forward. Thats what he played as a Jnr and his best games he has great set shots and goal sense. I think plan at the start of last year was to put him there but our failures in the middle forced him back into the middle.

I imagine this year he will rarely rotate in assuming no injuries. LDU, Wardlaw, Kerch, Sheez, Parker and Powell all likely to be preferences.

Side not how is FOS going? Haven’t heard much and struggle to see him playing round 1 currently.

No idea, I don’t like to buy into pre season hype and photos. I like to wait for the community series pre season

I think hf suits Jy’s tank and capacity to accumulate. He would have tidy up aspects of his kicking inside fifty though.

He’ll have a game here n there where he magically hits everything and never miss a goal, then all these supporters will come at me, again, quickly forgetting how much stink he creates with his ball use by foot and hand.

He’s bloody good at getting the hands out of a contest to a running player who has to pick it up off his boot laces
