This is not a full defence of Rawlings, although some context should be included when discussing him. He took over responsibility of a list that had one of the highest age and experience profiles in the league and had just finished 2nd last. That year we won the first 2 and then only one more (it was a shortened season). Had to cut over half the team as they sucked. Only Ben Brown (traded, and now retired), Mason Wood (has come good at St Kilda) and Durdin (had a year out and the picked up by Carlton and has barely played) ended up on other lists.
On top of that had Gavin Brown as development coach, Paul Roos selected Noble and buggered off to Hawaii, Covid years impacting junior years, making it hard to get a good read (the 2020 draft is fairly weak so far) and our 1st no 1 draft pick otherwise know as ice bath princess, played us and got back to Portaloo after 1 year.
That would have been hard enough, except it was added to by Jeff Kennet commissioning a highly flawed racism investigation that threw Alastair Clarkson under the bus, to the point he had to take time off to deal with it and nearly walked away from the game.
So not ideal conditions for success

When i talk footy with my mates, I don’t put shit on my own team all the time ( some times, but not all the time ) as someone else has said I would rather look for the positives, understand the negatives.

I have an ok post to like ratio which should give you some kind of indication.

Any training report today ??
Ex western bulldogs player. 2nd round draft pick only a few years ago and very very unlucky to get delisted. Been a bit of talk that he’d been linked to North and would be training with us post Christmas.
I heard that we were looking into having a few talls train with us in the back half of pre season, but by all accounts there hadn’t been any involved with the AFL training. Lachlan Wynd from the VFL side done the odd day here and there leading into the Christmas break though.

Theres undisclosed reports that CCJ will be put on the LTI list and Clarke- small forward, formerly from the dogs and Tomlinson from melb are vying for the spot.
Hanballing to any of Curtis, Parker, Sheezel, McKercher, Powell, FOS Phillips for that final kick inside will work wonders.
Jy had a chance to handball it vs Melbourne. He instead blasted it off the ground to no one
Is Parker good at that kick? Not having a go, I've just never noticed it as part of his game

There was some tough and harsh exit meeting conversations (in regards to weight, gym etc). Even sparked Stephensons early retirement after the meeting.
Sick of 95% of our team looking like skinny school boys with no physical intimidation so, I'm SO glad to see the team respond.
This will also increase our confidence going forward..
What's your alternative to putting up with it, mate? Shut up shop out of pride?
I have a mate who is St Kilda and has not lived to see a Premiership in her life. The moaning on here is nothing compared to others who have endured worse.
