Training 2025 Pre-Season - Standards are currently being driven

It's quite clear from your posting you work in the department or have worked in the department.

I'd suggest, instead of coming on to a supporter forum and cracking into some posters for "complaining", instead view it as constructive criticism and free analytics and feedback.

I do not nor have I ever worked in the NMFC media department lolol.

Sigh, Essedon have a huge media team because they have lots more money than us.

As for the reports and coaches updates, maybe the footy department don't want to do them for a whole variety of reasons.

I mean, we had an ex media team staffer explain this to us.

I can understand the footy dept having issues with detailed structure breakdowns and game analysis as Rick's original post suggested.

But not wanting clips/highlights of training or player specific content suggests to me there is a disconnect between the footy department and the fans. As I said previously I think engagement and content are king when it comes to retaining and gaining new members.

Anyway, I've had my say and I'll leave it at that.

I think the bigger disconnect between the footy dept and the fans is the five consecutive bottom two finished.

There's some media content I'd love to see, but I understand that they're unrealistic given the financial limitations that the club has.

What I don't understand is why some of the more basic, low-cost and low-effort content isn't being released. Is it that hard to set up a camera and interview each of the draftees? This might be the first year that we haven't released those videos.

Sheezel is an incredible performer in the media and our most marketable player. If you only followed the club on social media, you might not even be aware that he exists. Why have we not heard from him yet?

Edit: Luke Urquhart might be our first draftee in fifteen years not to get a highlight video. Why can I watch highlights of Brad Mangan and Tom Wilkinson, but not Luke Urquhart?

There's also multiple factors that go into this stuff folks don't appreciate

Rick18 posted before about the footy department getting ants about his excellent analysis.

Amicalola asked why we can't have video content like Hawthorn.

Maybe the footy dept doesn't want our brand to be smarmy little TikTok shits?

Maybe the players don't want to be smarmy little TikTok shits.
But that’s not the only form of content there is. Inner North was great non-tiktok media content from just a couple of years ago, I don’t see any reason that can’t be replicated.

I’m not asking for high budget masterpieces, just some bare-minimum insight into how the club runs and, far more importantly, the players themselves.

Is this a help?

So the staff returned on Jan 13 (8 working days ago) and the following media have been produced since then:

MULTI-PLATFORM STORIES
  • edited video announcement of team captain, plus associated news article and social posts
  • edited video/interview with kevin white, plus associated news article and social posts
  • edited video lifesaving kid, plus associated news article and social posts

STANDALONE VIDEOS
  • social vid of players talking about what they did on their holidays
  • video/interview with mcdonald
  • video/interview with simpkin

ARTICLES
  • vfl season confirmation article
  • training photo gallery jan 13
  • roos 2025 milestones article

CAMPAIGNS
  • miscellaneous promotion for the car raffle
  • this year's equivalent of "Bound Together" membership drive... TBC

SOCIALZ
  • 16 multimedia tweets
  • 12 multimedia FC posts
  • other bits and pieces for tiktok and insta

Then I assume like every other media unit in the country, they're spending at least a day or two at the start of the year having editorial meetings on their 2025 priorities and key events.

It hardly sounds like they're sitting on their arses if you ask me.

You mean like this?

It feels like a deliberate strategy right now tbh.

We will always be limited by resources, but tbh right now it does have the vibe of going low profile/small target into the season, which is almost certainly coming from the footy dept.

The media team produced a tonne of great content for the girls during and after the flag.

we're cooked mate.
Relying on fans to take preseason photos and videos.
Someone mentioned that they may be on holidays but tbh its gone to shit since heath left.

They still do some decent stuff but it feels like we've gone from league leaders and innovators on fan content and access to being middle of the pack at best.

I really liked the mini Clarko documentary they did.

North has the least casual fans of the Victorian clubs but the fans we do have are some of the most hyper-engaged. They crave that content. It always seemed to be a little advantage of supporting North that as a small club the fans get to feel closer to the club itself.

Yep, everyone has caught up but in the absence of another generational information revolution a la what was happening in social media circa 2008, we may not get another chance to sprint ahead.
