We could really use a gun contested mark around the ground. That speciality alone could get Maley a game, in my opinion. As long as he can make a simple disposal after clunking it.

I love Finnbar and agree his future is bright, but you've just described what Comben is best at.

I bumped into a close mate of Daniel Howe 2 weeks before round 1 in 2023, he told me in no uncertain teams we are years away and screwed based on his first pre season at the club.

He wasn’t wrong! So would love to hear that Parker and Daniel Don’t think the same.

I would hazard a guess that things would be alot more positive this time around!

It's good that you want to engage and take an interest but once you start believing that you are entitled to daily forensic video breakdowns of the football department activities, then you are approaching the mindset of supporters of that club out by the airport.

A big thank you to everyone for their reports, I went down to have a look, I watched most of the first half, then has to run before I got a parking ticket and go back to work before anyone noticed I was missing, nobody did ! Not sure that’s a good thing.

I do agree with the report on Goad, Will & Powell, very impressed.

Indeed. That was my first thought after trying to work out how far off the ground everyone who was jumping for the mark was. Also, has he swapped numbers with Fisher?

Goad is a freak and was surprised by his ball use, pretty good in passages of play and not like a bloke his size should be.
Doesnt yet know how big he is and if caught behind a contest will try and reach in basketball style to spoil which is ineffective but gee looks to have progressed from when I last got to training in November. A real interesting " project".

Make no mistake, whichever season we are talking about - and whatever position we are talking about - this is what will make him or break him. You cannot be successful playing top level AFL (hell, even VFL), by "reaching in", as such. That's what Jacob Edwards did time & time again, and also what Goad did last season in the VFL. And no-one should think that it's an easy problem to resolve, as it's instinctual. You can tell your mind to position yourself closest to the ball hundreds of times, but if the body doesn't react, then it looks like the photo below. And if this occurs in a key forward (or back) post, then it's even worse.

Hopefully, his increased muscle/weight will give him more confidence to get his mind there eventually, because there's so much potential there with Taylor if the mental side of things can be worked out.

Hi , I went along today and arrived late in 1st qtr. Agree with most comments, Powell was impressive and a bit annoying at centre bounces , a bit of attitude, good to see.

Pleasantly surprised by Cooper Harvey both effort and execution, was led to believe by this site he was cactus. He might not be.

Have a differing opinion to some on Finbar, has great hands and goes for it at the right time but with ball in hand decision making is a bit slow and unsure for me BUT is early days trying to work out how to play in defence no doubt.

When Fisher was on he was surprisingly good.

Darling did ruck a little and as an aside his family seem happy here.

Not much else to add that wasnt said earlier, Wilphil looked good and does give us something we dont have elsewhere in terms of in and under and clearance type stuff, or at least he might if given a good run.

Preseason though, always makes me think of Bruce Lee movies when the bad guy tries to intimidate him by bashing up a dummy or wooden rod and Bruce just says "they dont hit back"
