Training 2025 Pre-Season - Standards are currently being driven

Wow can’t believe all the meltdowns in here off the back of a couple of comments from a poster with 20 posts in the last 18 months, who was upset because the players weren’t belting each other on probably the only time he went to watch training.

Time to take a breath people.

The colder weather helps.

Spare a thought for the Northern Brazilians, Colombians,
Bolivians or little Ecuadorians who not only have to manage the intense heat (Colombia is near on unbeatable in Bucaramanga as an example) and utterly insane humidity but also ridiculous altitude of up to 3600m at some home grounds.

Obviously not at the same football level as their European counterparts but their schedule is much more demanding. Argentina doesn't have to deal with that at home, which is why they are so good at developing younger players (amongst being a bit bigger and more 'European' in nature, not to mention Italy-inspired due to long ago immigration).

A few German 'recruits' post WWII having an influence with the Argu's too???...

Anyone have the inside word on the date and time of the North V Melbourne practice match at Arden Street.

Sounds likes it’s Saturday 21 February but the time hasn’t been announced yet.

Thanks in advance.

... did everyone else NOT get this email?

I thought this was common knowledge.

Neither are key mids. One is lucky they’re even still considered Best 22.

LDU, Powell, Wardlaw and Philips aren’t fit enough compared to other teams elite mids.

Sheezel could be argued, but he will be thrown around the field.
Exactly. We are still nowhere. The fact LDU isn't there is borderline ridiculous given he wants (or we'll have to pay near on $1.5m) to keep him.

No surprise to see a Stevens first, just surprised the rest of 10 are not midfielders which has been previously mentioned.

I'm sure they did. Having been to Bariloche a few times, I'd say that would be the epicentre as there's not much difference between that and places near the Schwarzwald (Black Forest).

I didn't have to look that up, maybe I'm one of them LOL- in saying that, there's other corners of South America that are very German. Parts of Chile and places in Brazil too mmmmm little wonder the Argies can defend better than some of their counterparts. Brazil excluded as they are heavily influenced by other immigration and have a bit more height.

Sorry LDU, you’ve been getting it 30 times a week and consistently been one of our best players but unfortunately more importantly you weren’t top 10 in that shuttle run in January so it will be a 1 year deal at base for you.

Just on the topic of the shuttle run, it was held after training, after the match sim stuff. The mids did somewhat of a gruelling ball drill whilst the rest did what to my eye was a lesser drill that was focusing on exiting D50. Mids did more repeat stoppage stuff. Good chance too that the onballers ran abit more during the match sim stuff aswell.

Don't bring sound context to a melt down on bigfooty

If you look at other teams boards, 3 days is all they all do. Seems to be 2 big sessions and a far lighter session. They would be doing plenty of gym/cardio work we don’t see
Yeah but why aren’t we training 7 days a week 24 hours a day like they used to in WWI?...

Sack Clarksons, Sack Vineys, Sack Sonja ‘Hilltop’ Hoods, Sack Snozs, Sack the media teams, Sack the coffee cart baristas, Sack Bob Ansetts, Sack Euges, Sack Amarfios sausage turning skills..

But keep Kev White though, he’s got a cool accent..

Clever.

Maybe if he were fitter, he'd kick the odd goal or even hit the odd target I50 with one of the 30. Be a nice change.

Sheezel is there, why isn't he? He's got 6 years advantage over him, is naturally quicker, it's a Contract year and still not.

Bye bye LDU, off to St Fiddler for you.

I'll buy 2x3 game member ticket (kids, not adult now obviously) on monthly pay as protest. Maybe that will teach him not to be so laissez faire with the shuttle run, 6 weeks out from the 1st game.

Senior player no excuses.
Not signed, doesn't want to be here, wasn't that hot. Not good enough. Bottom 4 for us again.

It's that simple. It's like if I lived anywhere North or West of the City. I'd hate my life so much I'd be pressing hard to get my dream move to the local Red Rooster. Not having to travel 45 mins across town would do me. Or I will start applying for Hungry Jacks.

Don't ****ing push me.

What a load of dribble.

I'm putting money down on River Stevens to win the Syd Barker considering how important the top 10 positions of the shuttle run have become.

Anyone know why Simpkin and Parker didn't do the run? That strikes me as concerning, they're arguably the two most important players for us to have on the track.

I love LDU.. I also understand the market value and rise in the TPP.. however, he rarely hits the goal and inside 50 targets as an attacking mid and that is incredibly frustrating when he will no doubt become the highest paid player in the comp
