The clubs that don't make the finals are only allowed to come back 1 week before the clubs who played in the GF. So the GF teams get 4 weeks of training extra
Question Mark What GIF by MOODMAN

The majority of players are in maintenance mode once the season starts, where you're doing as much as possible to maintain physical gains (as opposed to achieving more). By the time finals come around you're not going to be finding blokes challenging their personal bests on the training track or gym. You could argue that the extra games themselves are of benefit though I suppose.
Yeah the "extra training" from 4 weeks of the previous years finals series is mostly "get yourself right for the game", except for perhaps a strong session if they make the prelim the first week.

What this sky outside the Earth's atmosphere nonsense? Don't you mean the firmament? As for soccer, that's just part of the round earth conspiracy. They shaped their fake ball to match their fake science.
Did you hear about when Kubrick shot the moon landings to fake the footage?

I think it’s just a fact of life there’s always going to be injuries. The intensity of training is probably higher than at any time before. There’s no doubt whatsoever the intensity of games in terms of speed/endurance is higher than ever before.

And then there’s the drugs… The AFL (as well as every sport in the world) was absolutely rife with steroids 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago. For all their (many) negative effects, they definitely aided recovery and injury prevention.

While they are in maintenance phase, they are not losing condition from decreased training and they are re-enforcing game plane and synergy.

A lot of players would train well during the break, there are many who don't and when they travel they often don't have access to facilities to maximise their training.

They had an ex high performance manager from the afl explain the challenges of the current set up. Point is they get a lot of time off compared to other high performance athletes, and it has increased the challenge on the clubs to get them ready for the season

Not sure it actually is. Look at team list 30 years go. There was multiple players out injured every week. It’s a ballistic game, injuries happen.

It’s like saying umpiring is worse now. It’s been getting criticised since the game began,
The umpiring is actually good, its all the interpretations of the rules that make umpires look bad.

Cheers mate. Was looking forward to a nice 24 degree day but looks like we are in for a stinker 32 on the Thursday!

32…? I’m wearing a cardigan

Try this …,and BOM has one degree added to this Apple weather prediction…

Great point re steroids. I've long yearned for a'performance enhanced' Olympics. Who wouldn't want to watch that? Drug fuelled monsters like Ben Johnson fighting it out. Same goes for AFL, I have fond memories of pocket battleships like Micky Conlan and Doug Barwick from the 80's. Woke killjoys have stripped all the enjoyment out of the game.

Haven’t seen you around Kaboom for a while? Atari console shit itself finally?

I’d love to see a 100m sprint completed in 6.8 seconds..

The NFL is a steroid boosted sport. There is no way 250kg blokes should be running 100M in ten seconds.

Cycling is way better with drugs too. I want to see roided up behemoths ripping the velodrome apart. And EPO/blood doped freaks destroying the Alps.

Sam and Kane talked about that this week, they broke it done to below

12 weeks off at season end, train 4 weeks then have another 3 weeks off for Christmas and New Years. Clubs are only allowed to have 4 contact days at club during this time, and all clubs must give them at least 1 extra long weekend before the start of the season. Most clubs don't get all the players for the whole week, as players also have to attend AFL events as well

I like the 3 weeks off over Christmas for everyone at the clubs, but for what they are paid, I don't understand how they can't do 5 days a week. Most Olympic athletes train every day and then go to work to get paid

Found the interview with Andrew Russell pretty interesting. You could tell that he was frustrated by the limitations. The part where he said he was talking with Ariarne Titmus’ coach and they couldn’t believe how limited the access was.

Youll be excited to find out that the enhanced games is coming soon then. Aussie Swimmer James Magnussen has signed up for it.

what happens if a player drops dead? Training or even competing?

Only sport I know where interpretations change weekly during a season
Gaelic Football and Hurling up for debate? Afterall it's one person making the decision in the different segment of the ground. Same for Basketball (not that I consume a second) Baseball, Cricket, NFL, Football now VAR makes all the decisions, just to name a few.

Whilst the AFL is certainly poor, it ain't one out.

Didn't that fall through?

Are you talking during the season as I was talking about pre-season. With more contact during match simulation sessions you would expect more injuries and I reckon that is happening now.Remember 30 years ago training was mainly running and circle work not a lot of contact drills they left that for the matches.
