I was thinking the same but the injury to Marshall and English having niggles turned me off them and i don’t love any of the other rucks. Plus Hollands gives me more flexibility to cover injuries/byes than a ruck wouldI like this team.
Im hell-bent on starting 3 legitimate rucks though, which is making the defensive line structure so much harder to knuckle down.
Sell Max Holmes to me
Ummm....Looks great!

The risk of those onfield playing rookies getting a sub vest will dictate final structure I guess. Knevitt for example would be a prime candidate.View attachment 2216642
Pretty happy with this team.
Rd 3 bye could hurt early on with Holmes, Mills, Smith and Ashcroft all out.
Keepers - Sinclair, Holmes, Mills, Short, Bont, Serong, Newc, Oliver, Ashcroft, X, TDK, Rankine, Macrae, Smith and potentially 1 of Parker & Daniel.
Feel like I may be limited with captain options early, however will lean on Bont and X and looping Serong, TDK, Clarry, Newc where possible.
Newc my big POD, Ashcroft averaged 85 as a rookie and once he got going last year, finished the year (incl finals) with 129, 92, 115, 98, 113, 74 and 128 in the GF (107 average over this timeframe).
Rookies are based on placeholders and preseason news so far. Maric in if he can potentially distribute and take kick ins. Flynn will be a watch, as will Pahka.
He also only has 3 decent midsMy only negative is perhaps Whitfield starts slower then he finishes. Bring him in a bit later?
Nice team.

You are certainly better than me thenIn 2022 I started with 3xPremo Mids and finished 143 O/A
The Midfield Rookies score higher than any other position generally so if you have rookies on field that is where to have them especially early in the season.
You are certainly better than me then
Not enough rucks.
Just the one change for me:After sitting comfortably on my side for a couple of days, I've made a bunch of changes.
SDK > NWM
Dawson > Green
Peatling > Maric
El-Hawli > Knevitt
Rankine > Sanders
Davidson > JoeBerry
- SDK: His brother can't cope with the physicality of rucking week in, week out, and he's been doing it for a couple of years, so there's no way SDK does it. I think Stanley and Conway will get plenty of games. I think SDK will be a good stepping stone, but I'd rather take a punt on somebody who COULD be a keeper.
- NWM: With all of St Kilda's midfield injuries, I reckon Sinclair will play midfield, meaning NWM will take control of the ball in the b50. Taking the piss this preseason.
- Dawson, Peatling and Rankine: Sam Berry dominated in their intracub. If all of Dawson, Soligo, Rankine, Peatling, MCrouch and SBerry are named in rd1, that's too many mids in the side and there's not enough points to go around.
- Green: Superstar. Slightly unders as he averaged 111 when you remove the game when he got injured in the first minute. Think he's got levels to go.
- Maric: Stocks rising playing down back.
- El-Hawli: Not convinced he plays in rd1.
- Knevitt: Good preseason with lots of midfield time. Coming into his 4th season.
- Sanders: Improved fitness, great preseason, Treloar out gives more on-ball opportunities.
- Davidson/JoeBerry: Don't know much about them lol
