2025 Summer of Cycling

Nats start on Tuesday. 8th and 9th are the time trials, 10th the Criterium and 11th/12th the road races. Women's TDU 17th-19th, men's 21st-26th. Surf Coast Classic 29th/30th and then Cadel 1st and 2nd of Feb.

I think Plapp will win the Nats ITT, and Welsford both the Crit and the RR. With no Grace Brown I guess Gigante is probably favourite for the TT and probably Manly for the RR.

Williams, Plapp, Vine, Van Baarle, Finn Fisher-Black and Bettiol are my favourites for the TDU in the men. Bradbury, Niamh Fisher-Black, Ruby Roseman-Gannon are probably favourites for the women.

Not sure about Cadel. Not sure how many are sticking around for it. Pithie is obviously the defending champion and a decent chance, I also like Corbin Strong and Mauro Schmid if they stick around for it. Women I'm not sure, still not completely across their peloton.

Overall should be an exciting summer.

Ideally you should have Cadels race before the TDU and the Nationals after the TDU. Gigante injured and off for 6 months. At the nationals it's a joke the Women's RR is only 109kms while the crit track with 6 turns in 1.2km is dangerous.

Nah, Nats has to be first. Winners should have the home summer to show off.

They can show it off the following summer.
Or, hear me out, they can show it off that summer instead. Sometimes they don't come back the following summer through injury or a different schedule or any of that.

Nats first, then TDU, then Cadel is a good order.

Its an interesting RR course, despite it obviously being geared for max tourism drone shots.
Putting the finish line on Fraser Avenue means it's right after the climb which is a big change from Buninyong

The climbs not long enough, the wind will be the biggest factor. Bling would win easily if he was starting. It's the worst start list for Nat's in ages. WA govt must have a paid a lot for this, it shouldn't be held here again. TT course is really fast, certainly will be Plapp's focus but I don't think he is overly quicker than Vine on the flat, should be close. Pat Eddy to win the crit in an upset.

Ruby and Manly should be a good battle for the women's RR. Alex deserves to get the title at least once in her career, hope she gets it this year.

No one rates Durbridge in the time trial on a course he knows?

In the road race Welsford should win. Hindley will kill himself and even if he drops with two laps to go I can see Welsford going with the moves.

All his training has been on the course and he wont be dropped. Only issue is team strength if Jayco play it right.

Typical West Australian's arrogance thinking they should host every major sporting event and then ****ing it up

Jayco hardly has the team to control the race as they only have five riders. Unless Plapp and harper are super strong like in 2024

An easy course isn't a bad thing for a national champs when the field is already thin. Hopefully the field doesn't disentegrate by halfway. Looks like it won't be an easterly so no crosswinds on Mounts Bay Road.

In an ideal world the venue should rotate regularly but AusCycling are like the AFL and want as much taxpayer's money as they can.
