Bullants' disposal is not VFL standard unfortunately. We are exerting a lot of pressure but even when they are clear they can't hit their targets. I hope they can be more competitive this season; it's not a good look if they consistently get a pasting.

Very early days but one of the only drafts that Dom Milesi had a clear run at is shaping up well.

Good signs from Dolan, Hynes and Kennedy.
Amazed at how many are glad he is gone, simply because our picks are not stars from the first game they play, and it takes a few years to know whether they are good picks or not. But from early stages, Freijah, Hynes, Dolan, Davidson, Kennedy all looking like they may have something. Jacques was also doing well in training prior to his injury.

He was beside Croft (200cm) and looked a little taller. Perhaps he actually is 203cm. I’m confused. Everywhere has him listed as 203cm but the eye has him at 200 to me?

It's not against quality opposition but it's good to get the chance to see how our young guys go about it.

Kennedy mostly going by hand which is a shame because he's an excellent kick. Hynes looks a good user under pressure, though from a distance he's easily mistaken for Orgill so I might have wrongly attributed a clearance or two.

Who is this Muratore, looks bloody good

Had to stop watching after the first quarter, but during it they mentioned he was the leading goalkicker in his league last season (I think they said 47 goals). Big step up to VFL level, but a good start regardless

A complete team performance by the Dogs. The team was excellently led by the two junk yard dogs: Dan Orgill and Craig Cooper-Peters. Busslinger, Hynes, Kennedy and Croft were all very good. Also liked Poulter's game as a high half forward, took some nice marks and created opportunities for others.
The VFL listed players are all real goers who apply pressure at every contest. Lachie Smith won his position and contributed around the ground well. He is improving his mobility too. He does not jump in either centre bounces or throw ins but prefers to use body contact. I'm not sure how this method would stack up against tall rucks who can jump e.g. De Koning etc.

Hard to assess players when they're playing against the Bullants. A senior call up would be a big step up from the standard of tonight.
None were disappointing. More importantly I don't think any got injured.

I'd rank them ...

Smith - 40+ HOs but also surprisingly good at ground level. I like his physicality (cough, cough)
Busslinger - hardly put a foot wrong all night. Reads the play well. Worth a senior game soon
Kennedy - very promising debut in the colours, not flashy but hard working
Poulter - had some classy touches. Not convinced he's a HF but he's not far off a senior game
Coffield - I reckon some here have written him off too early. Very steady in defence and rebounding. If he stays fit he should get games.
Croft - spent most of his time up forward but he talked about his role maybe being HF to Wing. 4 goals was a good return even if one was from a HB to the goalsquare
Hynes - solid game but will need more time. I reckon Kennedy debuts before him.
Gardner - the usual solid Gardner stuff. Not bad at all, but not prolific either.

Only complaint from me is why in hell did this competition not start last week, a bye next week and witches hats this week.

3 weeks into the AFL season and none on the periphery get an opportunity ro push their case in a professional league.

Other than that rant none on the AFL list did their chances any harm
