Loved the fact that Jobe got stuck into him a number of times about his positioning throughout the night

Agreed! Very important.

To do that, I wonder if those who were claiming he isn't damaging enough thought the same in the 3rd/4th quarter? I felt like he had some clearances and plays that really put us in the drivers seat.

speaking of positioning, I'm pretty sure he was trying to work to the boundary side of the contest when he snapped that goal just to guard the outlet, then quickly realised 'shit there's nobody on me/Ryder's going to flip this over the top' and banged it home. Brilliant finish.

Maybe watching the self proclaierd 'analyser' throughout the week saw that (apparently) Heppel was opposed to Sidebottom whilst he kicked those 3 goals in 30 minutes of football opened his eyes to Heppel's defensive shortfalls

Sometimes doesnt run defensively well enough. Saw it a couple times tonight and saw it against the pies. I have a feeling Jobe was getting stuck into him about that aswell.

Still very good and yep next captain, i was calling for Myers to be but i reckon it will be him.

Played a good game as usual. Heppell along with Goddard/Watson (normally) are probably our most consistent players. They rarely ever put in a bad one. That handball was bloody shocking though. I expect that it will be shown in the match review and that Heppell won't make that same mistake again.

I like Heppell around the ball too, his ability to win clearances and have clean hands is underrated. The only issue is Heppell and Watson together is pretty damned slow if we don't win the ball.

We must have known he was going to get through to our pick though.. didn't Hird go and visit him at a camp site or something.. he was holidaying with family? Am I thinking of the right player or was that EKav?

Yeah, that was Heppell.

That was because we assumed we were no chance until the day before when news about Richmond taking Conca (assumed to be a mid 20s sort of pick) was reported.
