Haha, 'Dolly' I think. Damn, trying to remember. :p

Re: 21. Hayden Skipworth

Saw Skippy out tonight at the Royal Melbourne Show. Was out with Courtney Johns, or a pretty damn good look-a-like; which was interesting.

I was having a go at one of those money grabbing 'throw the balls and knock down the tins!' game; and Skippy next to me took off his jumper and ripped into a game or two. Wasn't as good as me I'm proud to say. Courtney was pretty damn good though, got most; I think he has slimmed down a fair bit from the last time I saw him.

And yeah...that is all I have to report on for the moment.

Sure it wasn't the mini messiah who plays for Bendigo? Looks the same, same build but only about 6'1"

Haydn Skipworth's future.

Well, A year has gone by. What do we now think of the decision to draft HS? I am not sure how long he is contracted for, but will he remain on the list?

IMO, he filled the role he was always going to. Played some solid games without being outstanding, and I guess fulfilled his role as a mentor to some of the younger blokes.

But lets be honest, is he just taking up space on our list? He probably won't play a part in any future premiership, and he will not be in our best 22 next season.

Do you think the experiment was a pass/fail or neither? And do we continue to persist with him another year?

Best place for this is probaly in the Skipworth thread in the player watch section where this actual discusion has already started :thumbsu:

Re: Haydn Skipworth's future.

No worries i will lock it for now so people can read it and head that way if they want to. For what it is worth 2 weeks ago i was thinking he was no longer needed but with Lloyd , Lovett , Lucas , Williams ( i belive he will be delisted and then taken as a rookie if still available) gone already then i guess they will be weighing up Skipworth v Tallent at the bottom end of the draft again.

Re: 21. Hayden Skipworth

Skipworth should stay for another year... is a very handy depth player if anything and can go forward and kick goals. Has a great rapport with the younger guys as well.

Re: 21. Hayden Skipworth

I think we still need his goalkicking skills with our top 5 goalkickers looking like this:

Retired... Lloyd..... 35 (926)
#1..... Monfries..... 24 (92)
Retired... Lucas..... 22 (471)
Trade... Lovett..... 20 (93)
#2..... Neagle..... 19 (30)
#3..... Winderlich..... 17 (38)
#4..... Stanton..... 14 (75)
#5..... Davey..... 14 (34)

Even with Ryder, 12 (22) playing up forward more, and Hille, 1 (107) coming back... not a goal-kicking force. Hurley does look good, but presumably is going to spend some time in defense. Who the hell knows about Gumbleton.

Neagle will kick 50+ next season. personally guarantee it. :thumbsu:

Re: 21. Hayden Skipworth

He's much better cover than Atkinson, so should be given another year if it's a 50-50 proposition.

Having a good ordinary player who can come in and do his job can never hurt.

Re: 21. Hayden Skipworth

Unfortunately i dont like Skippy's chances for next season... the club will have to delist some players to make room for the new draft picks and with Atkinson haveing a solid end to the year in the seniors (while Skippy was left at Bendigo) i dont know whether he will get another chance.

I respected you a whole lot more before you began your incessant bagging of Atkinson, at what is ostensibly every opportunity to do so. Is it really necessary?

For me, Skipworth is a borderline player who shouldn't be starting in the team, unless a number of injuries occur in the pre season, but should be given every chance to work his way in. I can't see him being in our next premiership side, despite his obvious teamworking capabilities and maturity.

Re: 21. Hayden Skipworth

Skippy will survive IMO.

Room made by Lloyd and Lucas, easy enough to delist Williams & Nash.

I doubt we'll go deep in the draft, especially if we offload Lovett and pick 10 somewhere.

Then again we'll probably want a PSD pick so it's a close shave..
