I can run into open goals as well, he created others and contested well, lets see what he brings next week
He creates goals for others every week
He contests every week
He can't kick for shit on goal every week
But he's bloody important to our side every week

actually I don't think any of those players are competing with Lennon, BL is a medium Mark and kick player and we only have 1 of those positions and that's Caddy and he has more game at the moment.

we can carry Ben for another year IMO.

If Ben Lennon had produced a year like Josh Caddy has this year 99% on here would be creaming their pants - Yet Caddy should have been dropped
FMD

if he were played every weeks and not dropped regardless of his poor form, like caddy was, perhaps he would of? we will never know, to lose him for free, is bad list management

Caddy had a top game and has been important at times this season kudos to him. fingers crossed he keeps it up like the rest of them

would be a good depth option but he would want to leave. to try get a regular game somewhere else. if anyone wants him anymore? i assume carltons moved on and will get another franchise reserve player

It was bad list management to draft him in the first place and people are just clinging to hope of him becoming a better player than what he has is just blind faith.

He has way too many deficiencies to emulate what he does at VFL when he plays AFL

Limited player

Disagree it was a bad decision to draft him. That's hindsight at play. Highly rated in his draft year. It's difficult to predict 1) attitude issues and 2) injury issues

Lennon is not capable of playing the role Caddy has. I seriously fail to see how if anyone is attending games they can be anything other than rapt with Caddy.
Today was just a day where he got the rewards. He's played similarly most weeks with his workrate absolutely unquestionable, his constant crashing of bodies, creating an extra number at contests, blocking etc but today with the pressure all over the ground he was unstoppable as the player finding the space.
Totally selfless footballer who is actually a much better footballer than I had anticipated.

Limited player - Physical & Athletic limitations you don't need hindsight

Not tall
Not quick
Not Agile

Good luck making it as a fwd

You suggested it was a poor decision to draft him, that's all I'm responding too.

Lennon would make it as a 3rd forward in a different team.

and you do mate I will say what I want when I want, it is a forum, it is an opinion, well done to the campaigner today, solid, but you would expect that from what he cost us and the pick we gave, still made plenty of mistakes previous lets see how consistent he is
The thing is people would take you seriously occasionally if you didn't post nothing but negative criticism usually which are pretty baseless.

Disagree

Lennon is a limited footballer and VFL standard but gets exposed at the higher level due to his limitations
You're a limited poster for bringing him up in the Caddy thread

yeah if Lennon managed to average 19 possessions and just under a goal a game we would be rapt because it would be a 100% improvement on his current averages

hasn't earned a spot in the seniors and has NEVER had a good AFL game from 10-20 opportunities, I've seen enough
I mean he has.
He was in the senior tem at the start of the year and was dropped without getting a good shot at it, unlike other players.
He then worked hard and played well to get picked again but got injured during the week, then missed a few weeks.
Then came back and got in the squad for last week but was a late withdraw again (because of injuries?).

He also had multiple injuries last year.
He hasn't been given a chance since 2015.

Lennon had some real attitude issues early on and pushed some relationships with the club hard.
Got a wake up call and pulled his head in, but unfortunately due to injury and the teams form there isn't a chance for him to push his case and it may just be too little, too late

I thought Caddy played well and was in our bests whilst watching the game Sunday, but watched it again today and my opinion on his effort has increased greatly.

On a number of occasions he was streaming inside 50 and having shots or passing it off, and really looked like he broke the game open.

I'm interested where we go from here. I think being the focal point really helped him, and next week we'll hope to have Jack back. I'm sure they can coexist, and even give Caddy a great target when dashing inside 50. But I worry that if we go with Soldo rucking, and Nank up forward he may not have the same impact.

Either way, yesterday's effort was fantastic and is hopefully the new standard to which he aims.

I see no reason why you can't have a big circle of Jack, Caddy, Dusty, Cotch, Nank rotating through the focal point. Cats wouldn't know where to look.

only limited by the mods, otherwise i would really let loose

Damn those guys not letting you derail the caddy thread with rants about lennon

Yeah I potted this guy a while back, so happy to tip my cap and say he was very good on the weekend.

He's had it 28 times, 9 marks and kicked 4.4 - awesome numbers just to look at.

A bit frustrating knowing he has most of the tools yet can't regularly put it together, but oh well.

Give him more time in the team. He will be even better next year IMO. Think he has had to sacrifice his role a bit this year for the team.

My only knock on his game from the weekend is that his 4 goals were from a 5m radius of the goal line and his misses were further out. If he could get his set shot kicking/kicking on the run from 40-50m right he could have had a ridiculously good game. But fair play to him for getting free out the back to get on the end of a few easy ones. Shows good work rate.
