Lance Franklin
Lance Franklin is a giant of the game. The star Sydney Swans forward has played 300 AFL games, won two premierships with Hawthorn, is the seventh-greatest goal-kicker in VFL/AFL history, is one of just five men with eight All Australian blazers and is the most recent player to have kicked 100 goals in a season. The Western Australian is also one of just two players in the game’s history, along with former Swan and Saint Tony Lockett, to have booted 300 goals for two clubs. Franklin was added to a leadership group for the first time in his career ahead of season 2020, joining co-captains Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe, as well as Callum Mills. But the 33-year-old, who was named captain of the 2018 All Australian team, has long been considered an exceptional unofficial leader, so great is his impact on Will Hayward, Nick Blakey, Ben Ronke and the rest of Sydney’s young forwards.

Lance Franklin
DOB: 30 January 1987
DEBUT: 2005
DRAFT: #5, 2004 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Dowerin (WA)/Perth (WAFL)/Hawthorn

Has it been stated that there will be a Rd 24 farewell ? Don’t think he wants one by all reports. If the club come out and say it he will be there. They sit pat and he will sail off into the sunset.

Harley said something along those lines on SEN.

Hawk fans spending half their words talking about how s**t Sydney (city & team) are in their Buddy thread. For gods sake people, get a life.

I don't even think about them anymore.

Get the feeling Bud like lockett will disappear from the game.
At a top level? Probably. Wouldn't surprise me if he became a scout for whichever state he lives in. Seems to enjoy footy a lot just not the spotlight. Doubt he would be a high level coach. Maybe the reserves at most?

I'm honestly interested to see what happens when his kids grow up in the Brisbane academy but also F/S/D picks to us and the Hawks. It'll be Blakey all over again

You'd think after winning a flag each you'd just move on the way the swans and west coast rivalry did. I guess losing Buddy and languishing on the bottom of the ladder for years has made the bitterness endure.

Will he be hanging around to support the boys until our year is done? Hope so.
I imagine he will be, seems like the type who would. After that he'll be moving with the family up to the Gold Coast - who are 100% going to be pelting him with offers.

I thought they were already on the GC. Think I read somewhere he flew there on Monday, before the official presser.

It's probably a case of a) where are the parents living at the time (assuming they don't want to get away from them), or b) is one of the options a lot better placed for success at the time.

Academies might not exist then, GC might be folded, they might do something else instead of footy.

Aliens have been proved to be real so who knows what the next 18 years reveal

franklin gives the impression he really does love being part of a footy club, being around a footy club
i can definitely see him involved in a club somewhere ... not straight away, and more than likely initially through his kids if they play junior footy
someone suggested a recruiting role, maybe watching football on the gold coast and beyond, scouting/recruiting for the swans
