Re: National Draft Selection #48 - Alex Browne

It's hard to anaylse as we're unable to judge how much the respective midfields/gameplan extrapolated actual talent. IMO Hawthorn's, West Coasts and PA were nothing special.
I agree with WC and PA, but I think Hawthorns was very strong. I like that midfield a lot

I suppose with Hawthorn they did play "above themselves" during that final series. Not so much their ability to stop but their ability to quickly transition from HBF to HF, mainly to do with Hodge, Birchall and Bateman.

Re: National Draft Selection #48 - Alex Browne

Lol I don't think we will be taking a mid then

You guys really dont get it?...Read their descriptions on the draftees and ALL can play midfield and yet have another strength in another position...perhaps something to do with rotations being reduced during games??? Wouldnt it be good tohave a player resting in a pocket or down back who can actually play the positio n too??....Derr!!

Re: National Draft Selection #48 - Alex Browne

Alex we used as a half back/wing because he's got the ability to break the line with his storng running. Powerfully built, his ball use is very good but it's his line breaking ability that makes him an attractive player" Oakleigh Chargers coach Steve Grace

Re: National Draft Selection #48 - Alex Browne

We picked him coz he's a Xav. Sydney theorem. Gun. Wins premierships people.

And coz he can play football, real well too.

P.S. Shotgun being the token Browney defender and number one supporter on this board.

Re: National Draft Selection #48 - Alex Browne

need a better nickname than "Browney". We're Essendon fans, not those washed-up losers at Carlton :thumbsu:. I was thinking AB jr.

Re: National Draft Selection #48 - Alex Browne

I like that he's supposedly got good disposal and attacks the ball hard. Certainly hoping he has the ability to lock down on a defender.

Welcome Alex.

Re: National Draft Selection #48 - Alex Browne

WTF? Everyone on this site, obviously have no idea about football. Leave the kids alone, unless you have qualifications in Sports Development and watch the under 18s carnvals and TAC cup matches dont comment on what we do and dont need! We have midfielders on our list that are currently playing in forward and defensive roles such as Zaka and Dempsey.. We have an abundance of IMO, quality midfielders on our list. Our previous coaches gameplan, and his lack of development in these young kids (dropping them after giving them one or two games). Hird is building a side that can defend well! If teams dont score highly against you, you will win premierships!

Re: National Draft Selection #48 - Alex Browne

He reminds me slightly of Jesse Crichton from Fremantle in the way he attacks the ball and tackles ferociously. I can't make a judgment on skills because my knowledge of Alex isn't all that comprehensive, but I was all for drafting Crichton last year for the aforementioned reasons. I wish AB all the best.

Re: National Draft Selection #48 - Alex Browne

Wayyyy to harsh on Hunter - in their flag years he was a quality player.

I always thought Hunter was rated better than he was based on his ability to play both ends of the ground. Decent at both ends, without being especially good at either.

I'm probably basing it on his importance to the Eagles structure - he really saved their skins a lot of the time with his versatility.

Could have been a premlim where he went forward and kick 3-4 in the second half?

I might be a bit harsh but I normally judge premiership players a couple of years after the success and see who falls away badly, shines a light on the passengers.

Re: National Draft Selection #48 - Alex Browne

I like this one:thumbsu:. I see more ability to play up the ground than most of the others. Looks like he has filled out a lot in past 12 months if thats the same player wearing 41 at the end of the clip. Looks a lot taller so not sure.
