The best performed player across the pre-season.

Working his ass off in the gym and on the track, taken his off field stuff to another level and taken his mentality to another level (Like Phillips he was one that had a little bit of self doubt, but he feels like he is now an AFL player).

Notably leaner, kicking goals with his strength/functional fitness and improved his running considerably.

Been told to expect a high level of consistency and effort from Powelly this year.
Didn’t Noble completely **** his self belief?

Has he improved his acceleration? Not expecting much imrorvement at the top end but if he can get out of trouble a little easier that would be a big help.

Midfield minutes will be competitive to get this year.

Does it look like he'll be constantly rotating through all three zones?

Or, with Simpkin, Parker and Sheezel rotating through the forward flanks, is it more likely that Powelly's main rotation will be through HBF?

Noble has a lot to be responsible for when it comes to the mindset of a number of players.

I’m very excited to see Powelly’s development this season.
He looks in absolutely ripping nick!!
Everything is pointing to a true breakout season.
I reckon we will be looking to get the ball in his hands as often as possible this season, along with Daniel.
He has great vision & skills.

I enjoy thinking hypothetically about what possibly could've indicated to the club that he was a good fit for the job.

Inflated ego/deflects blame towards others - tick
Yells like a drill sergeant instead of cultivating relationships - tick

Even in one or two interviews I've seen since he was sacked, he's come across as a smarmy git. I've seen a couple of comments from people who met him before he came to us, and they thought he was a smarmy git. I find it impossible to believe that these characteristics did not come across to at least some degree during the interview process. Yet then we went ahead and hired him.

Unless the pool was absolutely devoid of any suitable candidates whatsoever, whoever was running these processes for us at the time has as much to answer for as Noble

The recruitment process was heavily influenced by the great friend of North Melbourne Paul Roos. Mr Roos is a smarmy git too, so I guess they got along well.

The cool aid is strong with Roos. I heard someone on the radio the other day say that his appointment as coach was the most important move in the history of the club.

The greatest charlatan in the game of football.

In some ways it was.

He is lighter/leaner overall and looks far more agile and free with his running style, so I’d imagine he has added a little bit of acceleration.

For the time in his career he is completely pain and niggle free from his hip issues as a junior. Has taken a tonne of work on his behalf.

Half back and potentially wing if his running capacity keeps improving.

Breakout season incoming. Bookmark it.

He has been BOG by a country mile in both match sims.
He looks in crazy good shape & is running around demanding the ball like a boss & then using it beautifully.
He baked a couple teammates today for not giving it to him when he was open.

I didn’t think he would be getting much CBA’s this season & playing more off half back/wing, but the way he was getting centre clearances at will today, I would like to see him in the centre more often.

Big fan of Powell and what he brings, but we've seen the "killing it in match sim, looks primed for a huge season" so many times and then it falls down against actual opposition.

Hopefully he can get back to the ball pig nature of his junior days again because I think he's second to only Sheezel regarding North players I want the ball in the hands of.

Storming ahead of a few other favourites for centre bounce attendances.
From watching today, the ideal set up is:

LDU, Powell and any of Parker/Wardlaw/Phillips

Sheezel looks to be playing more HFF.

Played some good footy last year, but his first half against Freo was off the charts. If he can play at that level consistently, he’s a Syd or even Brownlow contender.
