Which really goes to show how close we were to breaking them last year. Jas got shutdown in the second half as I recall, and that's what won Bre Koenen the medal. But it's such a fine line. If only we were able to go one or two goals further up early in the third qtr in last year's game. In that case, Starcevich has to release that hard tag and play more aggressively, which would have opened them up, just as it did last night. But the lack of options in the mid field last year was the lesson we had to learn.
Bruton going down in the first didn't help. She was immense this year.

Bruton going down gave them the opportunity to lockdown on Garner, we were basically a mid short for the entire game.

AFLW umpires at that moment:

In all seriousness if the AFL really wants to continue making inroads in the women’s game, they need to maximise the stardom of Garner whilst she’s at the peak of her powers.

It matters not to Jas, but she is hands down the games MVP by that much, it is embarrassing she has not been recognised.

She is the definition of a cheat code for AFLW when she’s playing and when you have dickheads like Umpire number 4 officiating on the weekend in the Grand Final, there’s no wonder on how they continually get it wrong.

The AFL pushes the likes of Katie Brennan and Bonnie Toogood through corporate sponsors' TV advertising. We have stars on every line in our team but Jas is queen. I can appreciate that she doesn't want to be singled out or have her mug on a cereal box but she deserves the recognition.

It appears that the AFL and the AFLW have agreed to strike a medal for the best on ground in AFLW grand finals and they will name it in honour of Jas. The prototype has been struck and is on display on the web site now (surprised that giantroo hasn't beaten me to post the image)...

Does the AFLPA have a Leigh Mathew’s trophy equivalent for the girls
Yeah, as yet not named after anybody. She's won it twice and finished second twice.

Medibank ad during GF: Bonnie Toogood, *

Except for seeing Mia King on a billboard once our AFLW domination has so far translated to SFA promotional opportunities for club or players.

Riddell, Garner & Co should be taking the spots of the random *, Carlton, Collingwood and Richmond players who dominate the marketing and expose their clubs to eyeballs on each viewing.

I think Mo Hope had some sponsored exposure when she arrived at Arden St but that was a carry over from Collingwood and their expectations on her being a franchise star for them.

Also regarding the fat and bloated clubs like *, Carlton, Collingwood, and Richmond, corporate sponsors loading up on W players from those clubs are idiots because our W following is stronger than those clubs.

I can't remember which show said it, maybe CTTG: "She is your favorite footballer's favorite footballer".

The overwhelming majority of women who play in the league really look up to and respect her.
It’s not only her peers but young girls and teenagers looking to play the sport and start coming to games absolutely idolise her.

I don’t think the AFL knows how to maximise and get the reach out there.
They continually try and appeal to the generic Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon supporters which makes zero sense.

You've also got next era girls like Gatt and O'Loughlin who are young, bona fide AFL pathway draftees and very marketable and relatable for the younger kids. Female Bailey Smiths (ignoring his lifestyle traits) if you will.

If Collingwood had 2 premiership youngsters who looked and presented like them, they'd be saturated across about 140 brands.

My favourite bit in the coverage Saturday was them explaining how North Melbourne has the stingiest defence in the league but no players in the AA off those lines because they're just so good as a "team" and not that good individually.

Sure Jan. That's the reason why.

I know why she doesn’t win. But as Big Corey often says when they badger him about him “not winning”the Brownlow or Rising Star. It’s a team game and you are playing for a Premiership first and foremost. He has 2 of these and Jasmine too has started collecting them. Go The Mighty Roos

As someone said previously when one of these clubs…throw in tigs and those hockball muppets too ….make a final marvel will all of a sudden become available.

The AFLW have right now a perfect storm for marketing….
An undefeated historic team,
Players who are miles ahead of the competition..that are idolised by young girls
Toughness and pathways for international players ….hello Ireland
Attitude and come follow me in Alice O
A likeable no nonsense premiership player and coach
A 3 time premiership player who overcome adversity in Birch
A team full of characters, Charisma and pure grit.
Proud passionate and connected to its supporter base.

Point is they don’t know how to market this golden opportunity because it’s not one of their bloated little love child’s that they continually back in the mens… it’s probably got them scared shitless thinking..lets just wait this out till next season. We can’t change the formula we’ve sold to sponsors now…hello Medibank and Bonnie who the &#*# didn’t play finals.

Come to think of it l remember the advert for this season on tv…think l saw a north jumper appear for 5 sec with lots of fawning over big clubs (Darcy 5 goal wonder in a pan Vedico, numnut prespakis ) with some interstate clubs thrown in…
Will be interesting to see if that changes next year…doubt it….

If they’re daring and genuine about growing the appeal of the AFLW ……the ingredients are all there…WITH OUR CLUB.

But Alas these Geniuses can’t look past the “traditional” clubs that they rely on soooo much as surely it would equate to the same in the women’s…..with the stupid mantra of big club equals better coverage…..and I THINK THEY would rather swipe their noses off than CONTEMPLATE heading down this path of promoting a club they don’t know how to connect with.

Takes individuals to fill that role in the backline….but sure the backpedaling is hilarious…
Okay maybe they should have tried this… if we are to follow that stupid logic….
Well all the players who made the AA defensive line failed to make the grand final as the teams they were involved in choked, bombed out, failed to make it. Guess that means they played as individuals and not for their team….😂👏
Unlike the girls at North who when working for each other not only won the ultimate prize….but produced the best ever defensive unit for an entire season. Well there you have it a backline of stars working together to achieve the ultimate vs a bunch of selfish individuals seeking AA selection ahead of team priorities.
Truth hurts sometimes 😂💙🤍🍺

Defensively we were more than 100 points better than the next best defense which was Fremantle (269 to 372 and we played an extra game), and offensively we were over 100 points better than the next best offense which was Brisbane (811 to 708), and we had the best midfield as well. We were the perfect team and should have been rewarded with 21 players making the All-Australian Team, not a paltry three that we ended up with. :)

I actually think our girls are good enough to beat the All-Australian team. Although Garner and Riddell against Garner and Riddell may cancel each other out. :)

You look at less dominant efforts in previous years and huge numbers of players from the same team. I recall Geelong having like 7 AA players in one year in the last decade. Strange how they had so many individually talented players rather than a "team" effort. The whole system is nonsense.
