I love the fact he just about marks every ball that comes his way. His tackling pressure is fantastic as well.

A bit of an odd statement really. From what we have seen of him this year, I would consider marking to definitely be a strength, and his kicking isnt really shoddy either.

He's just like a child that wants a toy, big brother gets it instead and then he says it's shit and he didn't want it anyway. People often talk down something they really want....It's called jealousy.

As for his kicking, I'm really impressed with it....such a sound, solid technique, kicks well on the run and have noticed a few times he puts the ball where he wants the target to mark it. Smart.

Superstar in the making. What a forward line we'll have in a few years time once Weedon and Broome come on.

HF: Lecras Kennedy Ebert/Strijk
FF: Weedon Darling Broome

Just found this post re: Darling by Colin Wisbey.

He's a knockabout sort of character who needs focus but I always felt he was one of those players who was just crying out for AFL centre stage. You have to take personality into account but some of the sport's champs have been more "knockabout" than him. IMO, sometimes it's more important to focus on the potential benefit of *utilising* such a player's "aggressive" energy than to overlook him because of it being perceived purely as a negative.

WCE went for Gaff with their first pick (#4) but IMHO, although Gaff is an accumulator, he doesn't have much hurt factor and was not an early ranker with me. WCE got Darling with #26. Of draftable players, Darling was my #1. Of draft picks in the top 30, IMO Darling (#26) and Ben Jacobs (#16 and currently recovering from glandular fever IIRC) were the standout bargains. WCE paid market price for Gaff but, when people redo that draft some years down the track, I suspect Gaff will be a big slider and Darling and Jacobs will be at the pointy end.

darling is best known as a forward but, as I posted here some months back, although IMO he could play virtually anywhere, I see his best role as CB midfielder, in which role I'm confident he'll become one of the guns of the comp. Although he is good overhead, he has all the attributes for midfield including a good tank.

Wow, high praise indeed from the great man. Thanks for the link and post SK. :thumbsu:

Still taking some strong contested marks but are his numbers down? Not getting the ball as much as early season. Might be time for a rest?

He probably needs a rest, but maybe defenders have been watching him more closely since his first few games. Maybe helps to explain Kennedy's strong form of late?
