Is it true Ambrose broke his wrist reaching into his handbag for his dog's frisbee only to find a plate of steaks instead? or was it actually pretzels?

Ambrose has had a set back with an infection in his wrist post surgery.

A broken wrist also delayed defender Patrick Ambrose’s start to the season, and Crow said he would be seeing a specialist on Wednesday to address an infection in his wound.

“He’s done some running, but without sweating because of his wound infection.

“We’ll make sure that once that wound is clear and the surgeon is happy we’ll get a better idea about his time frame.

“We’re hoping to get him running and get some work back into him later this week and go from there.”

Another couple of weeks to go on the original timeline... but this is positive. Looks like he should slot straight back in as soon as he can handle the footy.

Crow said he was also happy with the progress of key defender Patrick Ambrose, who has maintained his aerobic fitness since suffering a broken wrist.

“Pat Ambrose had his review with the surgeon last week, which was positive. He’ll have an x-ray on Monday following our game against the Bulldogs to confirm that the screw is in good condition (and) nothing’s moved.

“His availability – if that scan goes well – is based on his ability to handle the football given we’ve been able to keep his running conditioning up through this whole period.”

AMBROSE AVAILABLE AGAINST PORT! X_X

Key defender Patrick Ambrose could be available for selection for Essendon’s crucial clash against Port Adelaide on Sunday.

Ambrose’s recovery from a pre-season broken wrist has been seamless and Essendon Physical Performance Manager Justin Crow says the defender is quickly closing in on his return.

The 26-year-old underwent an x-ray on Monday, which came back with “really good” results, and Crow said he could be on the selection table by the end of the week.

“(It’s) a credit to the surgeon there, because the wrist seems to have responded really well with the surgery,” Crow said on Tuesday in the SKINS Injury Update.

“Pat will train this week. If he’s able to do things functionally – tackling, marking, handling of the ball – then he’ll be made available to play given he’s been able to do a heap of running over the last number of weeks.”

I thought his infection would have delayed things. Good news though, Port like to go tall in the forward line.

They said a month on 20/3, by Sunday it'll be the better part of four weeks. You would think the infection would've ****** up the timing though, not accelerated his return.
Well we are talking about a player who can run without sweating... :p

Would think he’d made a solid matchup for Watts if he plays?
His best match up in all likelihood. Maybe Marshall.
