Btw Starc also risked being declared a non-catch by dragging the ball along the ground. Of course he controlled it, but if you drag it along the ground in the same motion, don’t be surprised if you’re held to account by the laws of the game.

If you’re taking a catch, don’t let the ball touch the ground. If you’re batting, stay in your crease. Real simple ****ing under 10s shit.

They did call him back tho, so kind of works against the argument 😂

Another thing worth mentioning it was retaliation for earlier when Collingwood obstructed a NZ batsman while running, and then ran him out. But of course England would never do anything against the spirit of the game. Baz has said he only called him back out of spite to try and rub it in, I wouldn't give him too many brownie points.

Not mine but I sense a meme goldmine is coming
Someone earlier referenced Johnny Walker - if a talented person could redo this logo:

But change:

Walker to Bairstow.
Make the mad hold a cricket bat instead of a cane, wear a cricket helmet instead of a top hat, and pads instead of boots..... that would be gold.

And this from Gideon Haigh...

'The parrot cry of “same old Aussies, always cheating” also invites the question of from whom they might have learnt it. After all, you can trace the line of Ashes tit-for-tat back to the Oval in 1882 when, coincidentally, WG Grace ran out the Australian Sammy Jones for wandering out of his crease under a misapprehension the ball was dead. “I taught the lad a lesson,” Grace is reputed to have said afterwards; just so.'

I think it was Vettori who was the captain there, not Mr "Spirit of Cricket".

If Carey had missed the stumps and it went away from fielders, would Bairstow have attempted to run? Of course he would.
And he would have had a better than normal chance of making said run(s) as he had already advanced part of the way.....

I can't tell the difference between real cricket articles and Betoota Advocate any more.....
With the political situation over the past 10 or so years here and overseas, it's been almost impossible at times to tell the difference between satire and reality, so blurred are the lines.

Probably the most interesting point to me, is would the big Ginge have just wandered off out of his crease had it been Lyon or Head bowling? Of course not, because he would have known he would have been stumped. No difference when the keeper is back, you just don't do it until the ball is dead.

If England wants to go down the 'poor sportsmanship' or 'spirit of the game' route, maybe they can explain why Gary Pratt was on the field at Trent Bridge while the fast bowlers were off having a shower and rest? Broad smashing it to first slip? Sidebottom running into Elliot and Collingwood not calling Elliot back? Bodyline? McCallum running out Muralitharan? The list goes on.....

Again, no one has an issue with stumpings in general. They have an issue with stumping someone who was only out of their ground on the assumption the ball was dead. Marnus was out of his ground to attempt to play a shot. Whether you have an issue with Bairstow's dismissal or not it's a completely different situation.

This is my favourite Ashes series in more than a decade…hot salty English tears served daily 😭

If Bairstow was paying attention, like you would expect of a professional Test cricketer, he had the chance to stay in his crease and none of this would have happened. Carey didn’t opportunistically throw after Bairstow left his crease, but just before. Keepers throw at the stumps all the time, including Bairstow, it’s just that 99.9% of the time they either miss or the batsman is smart enough to stay in his crease.

We shouldnt even be having to justify it. Smart cricket by Carey. Theyre just bewildered that were wiping Bazball like a dirty arse after them thinking it was indestructible

lol yes

keep the memes rolling

Don’t forget:
  • Having the physio run on at Cardiff 2009 to stall for a draw
  • Resting fast bowlers whenever they wanted to get gun fielders on the ground
  • Cooking the pitch at The Oval into a dustbowl when they needed a result to win the series

Their sanctimony is hilarious.
Yep. **** these guys. Their tears tastes like milkshakes 🤣
