We all know that the almighty Angel Dust is one of the best albums ever released, but what was FNM's 2nd best album?

After years of listening i find these days Album of the Year to be a criminally underated masterpiece.

"The Real Thing" was by far thier best album

Broke the mould and stuck it back together in a way never seen before

FNM > Nirvana when it came to shaking us out of our lethergy during those times

Don`t get me wrong , love Angeldust , really made us have a good think after TRT , but was a different and more eclectic trip that was more of an acquired taste .... "The Real Thing" just made you scream "Whoa ... WTF was that "

Agree with all of that. AOTY is a ripper. I'd rate it just above The Real Thing and well ahead of King for a Day.

Silly poll because people have different opinoins on their best.

I think King for a day is their best.
Followed by Album of the year and then The Real THhing.
Angel Dust would be next.

I'm going to put Album of the year. However keep in mind I dont think Angel Dust is anywhere near their best.

I do agree with you though Album of the year is massivly underrated.

KFOAD was their second best. Thanks mostly to Trey Spruance.

Angel Dust was FNM at their ultimate best, it was before Jim Martin was told to 'F*ck off', it was when Patton didn't hate the limelight and was still Sh*tting on anything he could find.......it was when the band as a whole were at their most eclectic and productive.
So many classic songs on that album, it's too hard to go past.

Agree on Angel Dust being number 1. Incredibly, still sounds years before its time.

I'll pick KFAD for number 2, theres not too many albums you will ever hear so many alternate styles from song to song.

1. get out (Rock)
2. Ricochet (Rock)
3. Evidence (Pop)
4.Gentle Art of Making Enemies (Rock)
5. Star AD (Jazz)
6. Cuckoo 4 Caca (Metal)
7. Caralho Voador (Foreign Ballad)
8. Ugly in Morning (Metal)
9. Digging the Grave (Rock)
10. Take this Bottle (Country)
11. KFAD (Accoustic Rock)
12. What A Day (Rock)
13. Last to Know (Ballad)
14. Just A Man (Gospel)

Of those three I'd say KFAD. (Lose Take This Bottle and Last To Know and it'd be even better).

But I find myself coming back to Introduce Yourself more and more...to the point it could well be my fave after Angel Dust.

Chinese Arithmatic, R'n'R, Spirit and Blood are all way too easily overlooked in the FNM catalogue.

Chuck's vox were pretty monotone - and nowhere near Patton's - but they worked a treat on that album. His early demo version of what became The Morning After from The Real Thing is pretty sweet as well.

That would sum up perfectly how I feel about it too. I remember when TRT came out and it just seemed to be the perfect album. I remember hearing Epic first then Falling To Pieces and I was blown away. It sounded like nothing else at the time and I have never felt the same way about any other album I've heard. I became totally hooked when I bought "You Fat B*******" on video and saw how much energy the band had.

Angel Dust would be second for me.

I'd be interested to hear that. Where have you heard that?

Here's the ftp link for the Chuck version of The Morning After, called New Improved Song.

ftp://ftp.cv.org/pub/

Click through Faith No More > Audio > Rare > New Improved Song mp3.

There's plenty of other things to keep FNM fans occupied for hours there too. Enjoy!

Definetly has that FNM sound to it.
The spanish version of Evidence is interesting!

You are my new best friend. ;) Thanks for the link. It was good hearing the Chuck version. It was also a bonus to find the two Faith No Man songs there which I never thought I'd get a chance to hear. I think I may spend a few hours on that site. :thumbsu:

Never forget the first time i heard/saw EPIC ...

Been out on a hefty bender , probably listening to Def Leppard or G `n` R on the way home , fell into the couch and flicked RAGE on as was the norm (still is) ... just about to flake out when that video came on ... never forget it ... managed to regain some form of consciousness , rather abruptly , and my world was changed from that point on .

Like you said , the whole album just blew my mind ... what a perfect opener ..."From Out of Nowhere" f..kin awesome ... Perfect opener to thier shows as well . Was very lucky and also very fortunate that myself and a very good friend got in real early and managed to get tickets to that tour (thier first here) ... Never forget that night as well . There were more people outside trying to get in than acually had tickets .... Zombie Eaters .. Woodpecker from mars .... "Best cover ever" Warpigs

One of those albums that changes your life and perspective ... musically anyway

Yeah i can relate to all of this. The Real Thing put alot of what i listened to back then (Oils, Inxs as well as the American hair bands that were huge in the late 80's) in a completely different perspective while also being a big influence in terms of opening my ears up to what i got into after it (metal/alt rock/electronica etc).

And its comfortably in my top bracket of "albums most listened to". I remember i bought that on tape originally and then not long after finally got myself my first proper stereo with a cd player and it was one of the first discs i bought. Christ i thrashed the absolute livin bejesus out of that album! I knew every last detail of that album.

I got to the stage where for years after i actually couldnt listen to it anymore.

Oh, and this might be akin to blasphemy on these parts, but it actually took me ages to get into Angel Dust and to be honest while i've appreciated it more as the year's have passed and acknowledge and respect the fact they certainly didnt cop out and make a predictable follow up to a monumentally successful album (TRT), i'm still not as enamoured with it as some are.

No, I completely agree. It isn't blasphemous to me either.

I'd say KFAD is probably my favourite album of FNM, but the, that was their big release when I was growing up. My next door neighbour introduced me to FNM when I was like 12 or 13.
