Traded #30: Patrick Ryder - Returns to the club as Indigenous Player Development Manager

A lot of journalists/media guys are saying it leaked from the essendon camp but regardless how stupid can essendon be to blame the manager how is that going to help you!

how do you know this? You don't.
The club will not idly allow any player to 'walk out' under this clause. They already have received legal advice on the topic and from preliminary discussions have expressed they are prepared to go to court if required.

I am 100% sure of this.

So pay him over $400k a year to do what? Not play or train hell he doesnt even have to come to the club at all if I understand your idea correctly.
So he could just move to brisbane anyway and get paid to do **** all.
If he won't train/play etc, then he is in breach of contract and can sit 2 years on the sidelines before being on another AFL list. We wouldn't have to pay 100%. Paying paddy not to play would be cheaper than paying hirdy not to coach.

I don't think it would be in the clubs interest to make him 'sit on his hands' for two years. I think that just breeds resentment through the entire playing list.

If he wants to go, someone will make a deal. Still yet to see any evidence that he actually wants to go and whether Brisbane are offering low ball.

I understand that Brisbane won't put pick 4 on the table.. yes he is worth it.. but they have their own list management issues. So it will either be a 3 way trade or it will their second round pick + a very good player.

I'd have thought a player disrupting a finals series created some resentment also. This should've waited to be played out in october.

Reminds me of a couple of years ago Matthew Lloyd saying there are some guys that are just happy to make a living as an AFL player and don't care enough about success. Our wildly erratic form and underachieving is symptomatic of this. Pretty sure lloyd openly implicated ryder as one such player at the time.

So I can only see Paddy attempting to push the delisted free agent route if for some reason the only thing he wants is to play for the Brisbane Lions.

And I can't see why he would be so committed to the Brisbane Lions.

The rumors and inference;
Brisbane has offered $3M over 4 years
Wants to live closer to family
Wants to live in Brisbane
Wants out of fish bowl
Fed up with EFC saga / stress
Playing at EFC is no longer teneble after pregnancy
Has also talked to Sydney

There is nothing to say he cares one bit about Brisbane Lions.

If he leaves EFC there will be no shortage of interest, trades and money offered. Sorry Brisbane posters pick 20 is just bullshit. And you certainly aren't doing us a favour.

Just curious

If this turns out to be true would a trade with GWS involving jono rourke be worth looking at. maybe rourke and jakche how ever you spell it. Like I said just curious where people rate those 2 giants

If true all possible trades will be looked at.

Only in Caro la la land do we wrap our arms around him and say go wherever u like you are a delisted free agent

Gday lads. Long time reader (3 years) first post.

Was in getting a trim this morning touching up the lid and over heard an interesting conversation. Ex essendon player said that ryder was gone. Will not play at essendon next year. The most concerning thing for me was that he got this info from nat rat. Feck....

anyway take this with a grain of salt. Just a convo I over heard. lovett-murray mentioned however really caught my attention.

Absolutely shattered about tonight but welcome back hirdy.
