Hes actually 26 and 7 months

A 27 and 11 month year old darren jolly got pick 14 and 46.

So hes 16 months younger and by far a superior player who cant just fit one position, apparently both were contacted at the time.

So we need something at least greater than pick 14 as the first option.

Wingard and Pick 35

For Ryder and 20

???

Wonder how Ryder is feeling.. seems like Port think his is pretty crap. I don't see a lot of love coming for you Paddy..

I reckon we 'shop' Ryder around to every club before Port.. so talk to St K, Melb, GWS, WB, Carl etc etc.. and say 'make us an offer'...

Then when they offer a pick lower than 17.. we say.. yup fine.. and tell Ryder "go here or stay"

I'm also leaning towards making him go to court.. just to prove a point. Good Luck with that. Tie it up with appeals for two years.. and then you can go UFA.. and we can get #3 for you...

Ryder + Pick 19 for St.Kilda's pick 1?

:D:p

We should shop Ryder. If we can get an offer on the table from another team and he refuses, it will make any future grievance action by Paddy more difficult.

If we pave a way out of the club and he wants to be choosy, can't see how a breach of contract action would hold up.

This is pointless - as I've said, even if Port wanted to do a fair trade, they can't. There's no way a quality player is agreeing to move from a top 4 club to a rabble who can't even tell you who the coach is going to be next week.

I'd be staggered if we land any established player. FFS our own players are leaving.

I would like to see Port put Picks 17 & 35 on the table, if they are fair dinkum (not opportunist vultures) this should at least be offered.

Locking us into dealing exclusively with PA was an absolute cluster f*** of an idea paddy, time to open the deal up to other parties now.

if ever there was a draft to focus on picks, this is it.

That's not our problem. If it was, Josh Caddy would be an Essendon player.

AFL trades require player consent.

So yes, it is a problem. We could get a deal done with Port for their entire midfield, when they turn around and say they're not going to Essendon, it won't happen.

There's no players out there even considering Essendon. Its a problem.

You're both right.

I'm sure you can get your head around the fact their are multiple variables in any deal.

Coming up with a valuable player they're happy to trade is Ports issue.

Then actually making him want to leave and come to us is our issue - nobody wants to come here at the moment.

Dodoro is going on the radio saying "we'll take Hartlett". Good luck with that.

I think people need to move on from Essendon are difficult to deal with BS, we have shown over the last few years we are quite easy to deal with,

see monfries trade, see crameri trade, see gumbleton trade. also see Hooker attempted trade where a player actually quite within his rights wanted to stay.

Again, it's not our problem. The club is more than happy to keep a required, contracted player.

Agreed, hard to change beliefs once theyre set though.

I'd agree with gus and gumby but not crameri. having said that, that was more the doggies being a bit portish about things than us being unreasonable

Ben and Bunk are both right. And that's why trade week(s) generally is one massive stalemate.

I suppose the question is, what happens with Ryder if he does end up staying here? Does he play, sulk and stink it up? Not play and just stand out of football? Languish in the VFL?

All three are shit scenarios.

He'll play on, hopefully all the bullshit will be over soon and he'll have some peace.

I strongly doubt he'll sulk.

He'll play Rd 1. And Rd 2. And Rd 3. And so on. O'Keefe and Caddy are two examples off the top of my head, but playing him in the VFL is ridiculous from every angle.
