Dimma loves mansell and will never drop him. He can never do any wrong. Cumberland meanwhile was BOG in the vfl win, and when asked about it in the presser, dimma couldnt give a s**t and said he needed to work on structures. Wtf dimma wake up we are losing in the seniors ffs. We need goal kickers.

We were losing when Cumberland was playing...and without him we won then lost a game by a point. The team needs structures and systems that work just as much as it needs players who can impact around the ball.

I herd Dimma say yeah he knows he should have done better with that , but atleast he was in the right position in play lol when not playing auskick.

Surely Rioli and McIntosh mistakes in the last were worse. Riewoldt was miles in the clear when Rioli was streaming forward, he refused to kick it at any stage and wanted to run into scoring range. Then he gets poorly outmarked for the game winner.

Cumberland was putrid in his last game in particular and gave indication that he didn’t give a fucj about anyone else but himself . Rightfully will take a long time before trust is regained .

I had to wonder why Cotch didn't impact that contest. Just jogged in looking for the crumb out the back.
Reckon Cotch was just backing him in to get the ball to ground and then we were out

Cotch flies as well and who knows what happens when it hits the deck

When you play state league quality players, you get state league quality results.
We had about 5 AFL standard players on the ground.

Dan Rioli, Kmac blunders costing turnovers to name a few.

But sure drop Mansell for Cumberland and MRJ if fit.

Cumberland goes missing for long periods of games hopefully he's worked on that

Yeah I don’t really understand the blowtorch on Mansell, for the most part he had a good game
Hit the scoreboard early and tackled well

Absolute shocker last 5 mins but Prestia, Kmac, Pickett and even Graham were non factors for the entire game

Jacks mistakes also just as costly as what Mansell did as well

Think Cumbo deserves to come back in after playing himself into form at vfl level but probably would move Pickett back to the wing before dropping Mansell

Think Cumbo

Rhyan should have kicked that goal. Other team mates made errors in red times that resulted in the loss. Our team looses the plot.
Any musing that Cumbo will stand up and make the difference in a 4th quarter AFL game is fanciful.

The main problem is that mansell isnt a forward. Hes a great lock down defender. We are playing him forward cos we forgot to recruit any small tackling forwards with skill when we traded/lost all our other good ones over the years. Its been a fail for recruitment and trading.
Its a cluster f of George retired pre season and MRJ looked outstanding last year but was crappy before injury. Clarke had a good preseason.
The Mansell Round 1 selection over Cumberland, Clarke Given a fwd line with MRJ the only other pressure fwd.
OK Dimma wanted "pressure" fwds.
Cumberland didn't have to wait long, before he started playing crap too.
Pickett has been a waste his skills in the fwd line.

The team scoring though is a worrying pattern since 2021.
Close losses....

At least no injuries at either level. Hopefully a few changes.

Well you can only judge a player on what we’ve observed and whilst he’s played some stinkers Noah has also had some match winning performances in his short career.
A guy with that sort of upside surely gets a gig in the 23.
There’s not a multiple of riches in the VFL right now demanding selection.
Pretty sure opposition coaches are happy not see his name on the team sheet. One less x-factor that they have to plan for

3 key incidents. Out on the wing late in the game had a target wide open for a 15m pass. Missed it by 10m.

Shot on goal to give us a one goal lead and just needed a point. Got nothing.

Last passage of the game just needed to bring in it to ground vs Heppell but got outmarked. Heppell repelled the ball inside 50 for their winning goal.

He tries hard. Not enough talent for AFL level. The fact this guy is best 22 shows you where we're at as a club.

This year his only AFL win was West coast
I think he has a good chance of selection. He's got to play more than a quarter.
He's Hardly a deadly threat at the moment.

Pinch hitter mansell is averaging identical to specialist gun Noah Cumberland.
Mansell was our leading goal kicker on the night.
I hope Cumberland comes in and tears it apart.

Sometimes you’ve just got to look at the big picture.
Cumberland is part of the puzzle going forward. Yeah sure there is some deficiencies to iron out, but players become more rounded when playing on the big stage under those pressure moments

I think the thing is, some players show signs of learning how to address their weaknesses whilst playing AFL football. You stick with them if you can see the right mindset. But others, and presumably Cumberland is one, require the stick approach of being dropped from the team to get their mindset right...

The big picture and saw Noah kick it out on the full from closer than Ross, Miller, Mansell. As I say, then gifted a second shot from the goal line.
I hoped Cumberland would've improved on his 22 form.
He hasn't and he's back in the VFL.

I hope its a upward trajectory in Cumberlands form. Has more skills than Mansell but we need Pickett out of there too. But the current fwd line is full of dual position players. Ryan, Dusty, Bolton, Pickett & Graham.

Said it before and I'll say it again, put Mansells effort, intensity and ability to adhere to game plan/structures into Cumberland and we'd have ourselves a genuine gun. People potting Mansell are taking the easy option as he isn't a reason or the reason we're going so poorly.

Agreed he’s made some blunders, but without wanting to sound like a broken record we need to start bringing in talent to replace recent retirements.

It’s quite amusing how some posters see opinions as “pot shots “ ( not including yourself). My point of view is always about getting our side into a position to compete for our next Premiership. A fair bit of self righteousness creeps into some of these threads which isn’t really necessary .

plenty of others did that. he just shanked a kick. pressure got to him. it happens. 3 shots on goal again. he's doing alright.

jack soccer to the bombers player in the clear?
He could kick 2goals a game people still will be negative

Look its an autopsy after a win in the VFL & another close loss in the AFL.
The whole club comes under scrutiny.
List management, soft cap, selections.
I caught Noah's games in Qld. His debut vs the Suns was very good. He and MRJ looked a potent replacement for George. Noah's final was a bit underwhelming

Tarranto, Hopper and Dusty returning to the side squeezed Noah out.

But jeez how disappointing MRJ, Sonsie, Noah, Miller in the fwd line. Also disappointing that Dimma persists with pressure fwds.

And as I say Mansell just about equals Noah right now.

In only caught the last 10 minutes of the game.
No injuries but I'd rest Cotch, Kmac, Prestia, Jack R. drop Dow.

In reality It'll be Dow, Hugo, Ryan, Mansell

I'm not surprised he was putrid. What the hell did the club expect?

The kid is a pick #43, did an ACL in his first year - got delisted, then re-rookied in 2022. He has played a total of 15 games, 1/5 of which he played only as a sub - and has kicked 25 goals. His form in the VFL and seniors has been so eye-catchingIn every press conference, dimma gets asked about Noah. Instead of supporting a young player who plays with enthusiasm & one of the only few kids we have that plays with intent to win, but has flaws, he keeps choosing to publicly "call him out". The fact his last game was putrid was the most expected thing ever. Dimma literally chewed him out in a pressr the week before and ended it with "im intrigued to see how he reacts". Well, he reacted exactly how a lot of kids act when they are constantly made an example of - he played with no confidence and completely unsure of himself.

If I was Noah i would be requesting a trade at seasons end, i would not believe this coach has my back at all. It's just odd to see a young player playing good footy and being targeted each week, especially when you consider we have the oldest list in the league and currently sit in the bottom 1/4 o the ladder. Its hardly "the young blokes" fault we are "too old".

There are about 15 clubs who would happily take him off our hands at the discounted rate we have placed ourselves on his value. I could easily see him going to a team like Carlton and making an immediate impact alongside 2 Key forwards like Curnow & McKay. If you just put a kid down all the time, eventually it will wear him down.
