Well done Billy. Some well needed run and skillsets to add to our mob. Enjoy the tutelage of Luke Power and guys like Doc, Zac and Saady etc.

Looking forward to a quality young player.

Carlton Head of List Management, Nick Austin:

“We love how Billy conducts himself both on and off the field, so we’re delighted that we’ve been able to welcome him to our football club via the draft. He’s a really damaging user of the football who has already shown at such a young age that he’s more than capable in a number of positions around the ground, whether that’s as an inside or outside midfielder as well as across half-back.

“His football went from strength to strength in 2023 in both the national carnival and the Coates Talent League, where he got better each week playing against the best young talent in the country. With Billy, we’re welcoming someone who’s got elite disposal and leg speed, which is something we targeted this off-season. We’re delighted to welcome him to the Club and we can’t wait to see what he can bring to the fold.”

Man I can hear BT now... "LOOK at the WHEEELS on Billyyyyyyyyy WILson!"

Leg speed AND neat disposal is a good tick for us though.

Welcome on board Billy!!! Can't wait to see him in the navy :thumbsu:

How’s the Testing? WOW

He finished first in the 20m sprint and vertical jump tests, equal-first in the running vertical jump and fourth in the agility.

Think his athletic attributes have gone under the radar because he did it at the victorian combine not the draft combine.

If he went to the national combine he would have ranked 6th for 20m, 5th for standing jump, 9th for running jump.

Impressive set of results considering he's also is a great kick and knows how to find the ball (not just an athlete).

Not a selection I would have made, considering what was still available

On the plus side, his testing would have him in the top 10 in many areas comparing the results of the national combine, such as 20 metre sprint and leap, which is a really good sign.

At this stage better suited as a defender, rather than a mid where he struggled with effective disposal with the added pressure

When he has time and space, his kicking is very good, so the focus should be working on his composure with the faster pace of AFL level
