Not sure, might be a bit harsh there I think. Ham definitely holds up play and looks like a deer caught in the headlights with the indecision. Guelfi was right in front of me yesterday when he took a couple of marks on the wing and there were really no options up the field and everyone was in a panic, no overlap runner, so letting it settle for a moment wasn't the worst idea instead of bombing it long straight to an opponent (which someone definitely did on the other wing yesterday, I couldn't see who it was... to replay or not to replay?).I never want to see Guelfi mark on the wing again. Every time he stops all momentum then bombs to a pack or the opposition.
He's recently brought a lot of good to the forward line with his team first play and relentless pressure, he just needs to stop giving the opposition time to set up behind the ball so often.
It was smarter to do it that way. Being there live and watching from level three you could see Fremantle player a five man defensive zone similar to the Clarko cluster with 4 players forming the corners of a square and one player in the middle so it was pointless just bombing the ball forward. They just zoned laterally across the ground. In fact one stage Peter Wright kicked one long forward that would have been more effective if he had of kicked it long out on the full. The shorter kicking was the option but not being a strong marking side it has to be really precise and it takes a lot of work rate. In the end Phillips going down hurt any chance we had of having the structure that has worked since he played. Not sure, might be a bit harsh there I think. Actually we did a fair bit of kick-mark footy down the wings yesterday in the latter parts of the game, so probably a coaching directive to slow it down and not play into what Freo wanted.

This is where you're at a distinct disadvantage watching on tv. By the time the camera pans back or you get a different angle we had players seemingly swarming when it sounds like they were just trying to get forward so a contest could be madeIt was smarter to do it that way. Yep, one of the reason I always try to go to the game and then watch a replay on TV. Have to admit though I haven't bothered with replays so far this year... too busy and most of the games have been awful to watch on the day, so why make the time? This is where you're at a distinct disadvantage watching on tv. He is mark bullenThe only thing stopping him from being a decent pressure forward is his disposal is scrappy. He does everything else well enough to be a decent B grade but his disposal is D grade a lot of the time. He has to keep playing as he is one of a few that put in 100% effort but his spot does need to be upgraded to a player who does everything he does but can make more of the opportunities by hand or foot.
Snelling and guelfi together will be nice when it happens.Reckon he can hold his head high thus far, think he’s genuinely improved and will only benefit from our other forwards getting back on the park.
I’ll stick my hand up and say I thought midfield and tagging was more his go if anything but he’s really developed his running and his leading patterns to go with the effort based stuff.
Goal kicking and overhead marking are a bit of a mixed bag though, when he’s on he can do some real nifty stuff.

Should teach both to start raising the arm, shrugging the shoulder, etc too.
and ill take that over flash. As supporters, we have been screaming out for effort. He is not the most gifted player out there, but at least he has a crack at every contest.
full strength, the fwd line I'd run would be;He’s got a massive opportunity to bed a spot by virtue of others missing footy, huge run into the bye.
Would say if we’re at absolute full strength he’s a maybe in that forward line but today he almost played genuine centre half forward at at times he and Perk looked the only avenue to take us from the wings into the front half so he’s quite valuable at the moment.
The news is similar for utility Matt Guelfi, who has also recovered from a hamstring injury sustained in the Bombers’ Dreamtime at the ‘G match.
Guelfi will train fully this week and be available for selection barring any hiccups.
“The bye came at a good time (for him),” Murphy said.
“He only missed one week and then the bye came around and we were able to get some work into him.
“He’ll train fully later in the week and he’ll be up for selection as well.”
