Give him another year.
There were promising reports in the VFL last year.
He can't all of a sudden lose that potential, unless he is like Pears

Last years VFL form is irrelevant. He should've been playing Round 1 this year, and was not for whatever reason. Has had a very average year in the VFL this year (due to injuries). Delist and rookie him for mine.

Injury has ruined him..

Those hard decisions we've been loathed to make as a club are about to get asked again this off season

In place of Gleeson in defence or on the wing?
Yes at least rookie him please. I believe he can turn out to be a real weapon with his rare pacy attributes at the club once he gets through the injuries

I can't work out which is the real sliding doors moment, that we recruited him at all (I'm confident that a club without its head up its own arse in relation to the way the game has been played post 2012 would have given him serious opportunities to come good) or the selection table for round 1 this year where we favoured the "form" of a player with a solid hit out in match simulation against Williamstown under his belt.

Having been rewarded for good NAB from with a spot in the twos in arctic conditions at Sandi (despite it being up for debate that a team like Essendon could use blistering pace and the quality disposal that he has) for round 1 of the VFL season he starts on fire for the first 20 minutes until he picks up a knock from which his season does not recover and that's goodbye career.

All in a context in which he, Browne, Kavanagh and O'Brien would not have been able to play NAB cup if it wasn't for the focus being shone on the issue by the media and the ****ing disgusting position that these players were put in when their careers were on the line.

None of this comes as a surprise as disappointing as the reality is.

Serious questions need to be asked about the way careers of a generation of players have been ruined by the club. These players would have been better off being injected with some unknown bullshit because at least then they would have been given opportunities to play regardless of their quality and/or professionalism.

Would have preferred him on the list to 4-6 others.

Hopefully a team rookie lists him.

I see very little benefit in giving Dempsey a one year offer then delisting Dal.

The problem is that he has better skills than a lot of players on our list, but just affected by injury. Kav and Stein far worse IMO.
Stein, partially agree (think he has more transferable skills). Kav, no.

Major list overhaul must start somewhere. If you are out of contract and have barely played a senior game in more than 2 seasons then your papers are stamped, injuries or not. Hardly beat the door down in the VFL and not withstanding a couple of nice flashy plays in NAB cup, didn't show that much to deserve any longer. May be the first, wont be the last.
