Ultimately, he could be a new breed of shut down defender. I don't know what his bodywork will be like once he gets a body with which to work, but he actually has the pace to match any small forward on the lead or on the break back to goal.

It's hard to tell at the moment because he get beaten in the way you'd expect a 20 year old small defender to get beaten. If he has been able to develop his game to the point that he can have an impact at AFL level in probably 18 months (this evening's game has been in him for probably a month or so now) it suggest he is a quick learner.

His first quarter was particularly impressive. Quiet after that but a pretty solid debut all up. I would love to be able to play Dempsey/Hibberd on a wing next year and have him take one of the HBF spots. Our midfield could really use another speedy type and I think taking one of Dempsey/Hibberd from the backline is our best chance to get a mature one in a time frame that will actually help us.

Its so nice when you have a player who is lightning fast but also has a great kick. Hell that's pretty much exactly what players like Lewis Jetta and Isaac Smith bring to the table and they've been automatic inclusions in 2 of the best sides of recent years.

Does Beau Waters play midfield for the Eagles? Hibberd isn't fast anyway. And Dempsey, I'm sorry, him in the midfield was 3 years ago, when he couldn't defend. Why move him now when he actually knows how to do that?

Was pretty good in the first quarter then disappeared can't wait to see more of him next year
