Weird how in an age where footy has constant congestion and tackling is paramount, having a player who can both tackle and still dispose of the ball well while being tackled could be useful.

Also, is this the first time he's given a few free kicks away for holding onto his opponent? Wondered if there had been a complaint (or complaints) which led to umpires looking for it this week.

Gerard Healy had a whinge about prematurely tackling on the couch. But I don't think he does it often, just hover hands but doesn't apply pressure until they are in possession.

That’s the thing with Clarke he’s a new age tagger. Instead of sacrificing his game to tag the best he still plays his game and gets a lot of it himself.

A lot of it? His month prior to last night, he had 13,10,10,15.

Love what he is bringing to the side. His kicking is actually OK. Doesn't look great, but that's fine. it doesn't need too. He's a really smart player.

It’s pretty rare for kids to come in and not just want to ball hunt. His positioning, two way running and body work has been A+ this year, been a vital midfield cog since game two, not many around the AFL can say that.

Also how strong is he through the hips? He’s shrugging off grown men already, frequently.

Hasn't looked back since his first game this season. Strong, tough, clean hands & quick decision maker. What makes all this even more exciting is that he's gonna get better with with every game he plays. Just the type of mid we've been looking for.

Funny part is his shit kicking into the forward line has been of huge benefit. He’s accurate enough it just has zero penetration, which has worked to the leading forwards advantage. A lot of our kicks are too forceful and don’t allow our forwards to get separation, trying to slam it down the throat every time. He’s unintentionally kicking to advantage.

You can also tell he is thinking through and not blazing away
