Yeah, I was gunning for those 3 and Miller, wiping just a little bit of egg off my face right now.

MRJ form, has been a total surprise to me, looking like we’ve got a pretty decent small forward who may be able to pinch hit in the midfield. Looks to have the most upside of that lot.

Cumbo, should be taking note of the performances of MRJ , Miller etc. Who are making the most of second chances.

If and when he puts together a couple of strong VFL performances he will probably get his chance.

Dow is getting opportunities as he finished off 2023 very strongly, and we expect got loads of midfield injuries.

MRJ is our best defensive forward and Mansell was injured early - if Mansell isn’t injured MRJ probably doesn’t play early. He did his job and has improved every week so he has taken his opportunity and run with it.

Hugo got a chance as he played well in the VFL, Pickett wanted some inside mid time so Yze granted his wish and put him on Trac, and with Macca’s poor form the wing spots opened up and Hugo took his chance and he’ll get a few more.

Lefau got opportunity as he’s KPF size and Lynch and Balta were injured. He has taken his chances.

IMO Cumbo doesn’t have to do a heap to get a chance … a couple of VFL games in a row with a dozen touches and 2+ goals will see him selected.

I don’t think supporters hate on him excessively .. I think many get sick of the conspiracy theories on his non-selection so present the ‘case against’ his selection which highlights his shortcomings.

The reality is, if Cumbo isn’t able to play VFL footy at a level to warrant a promotion then he won’t be up to AFL standard.

Sounds a bit crazy but the same tactic last year didn't hurt MRJ. He has blossomed since getting a taste of midfield in the twos. Sometimes it's nice to get your hands on the footy and be involved in driving the team forward. It also helps make Cumbo accountable for his oppo which seems to be an issue at times.

Players also get stale or bored or disheartened through injury or form or non selection. The term "toiling away in the twos" wasn't coined for no reason. Put him in the midfield, give him some responsibility and tell him to go and play.

Goal kicking mids are gold. Half forwards who are inconsistent and fade in and out of games are delisted.

Grimes was not putrid. He was injury prone
But virtually every game he played you could see he was going to be a 🌟 star once he got his hammy sorted
Shedda was so light was always going to take him a while to bulk up
Rance was an athletic beast he just needed to increase his football nous( leppa).
Cumberland is lazy and turns his toes up when things ain't going his way. He lacks intestinal fortitude unfortunately. There was a reason why Brisbane never matched him and martyn

I see it a little differently, not lazy, just mentally cant stay in a game when things aren't going his way.

He's an incredibly hard trainer and loves the gym etc.

other clubs would be mad not to enquire

he proved his worth in 22 dunno why we think he has to prove it all over again

mrj is showing what being played continually despite a poor first game back can do for a player

anyone who bags cumdawg is just a jealous mofo who hope gold most win a flag this year
