Richmond has informed Steven Morris, Todd Elton and Taylor Hunt they will not be offered contracts beyond 2017.

“We are delighted Steve will return for the VFL Tigers in 2018 and also thank him for his service as an AFL player.

One thing for sure, losing this guy to them weakens our VFL team and strengthens theirs. So they could be tough to topple at that level next year. If the VFL was still the old VFA, Jacob Townsend would have been a legend on the level of a Phil Cleary, Fred Cook, Norman Yemn of Dandy Dollar Dash fame or umpire Frankie Vergona. He’d have even given the original Eddie McGuire - Phil Gibbs, a run for his money. Will really miss seeing him in Tiger colours as well and I hope he adds to his AFL resume in some meaningful way, but I expect the first time he gets exposed for pace the bombers will look to dump him, to the benefit of their VFL team.
