Whats the floor/ceiling for Finnbar this year? Feels like a debut is likely. Improving his goal kicking ever so slightly could see him challenge Darling for a spot mid season
like everyone else im high off the training reports, but i think he could be a sensation. his contested marking is truly something special.

i expect him to debut early and i could see him soon having a break out game where he takes 5+ highlight reel contested marks.

i thought the same thing after i saw him in the vfl in round 2 last year. unbelievable stuff. while he had a good year, he didnt really reach the heights of that game again. so time will tell.

I honestly know absoloute nothing about this guy, or how he even came to be on our list. But he seems like a fan favourite who makes physical progress each year. What gave sellers a look in instead of Marley? Strong vfl patch ok goal kicking?

He went from a few games in the vfl back to the ammo’s. We drafted him and he came second in the vfl best and fairest as a 20 year old.

He’s a basketball convert. His sister played for the opals and most recently the 3 member street ball Aussie team at the last Olympics.

He played Good Friday in the vfl and took about 6 contested marks for the day including a few hangers. But said to someone here on Bigfooty at a fan thing that he didn’t feel ready to debut.

This is hard for me to understand because I don’t think I’ve seen him play a poor game at vfl. Or in scratch matches. It helps he can go into the ruck if he’s being held up forward. Relatively speaking he racks up the footy in the ruck.

Obviously needs to improve hame
Sense and decision making but that hasn’t stood out to me. But at afl level i can believe it would be a problem

Obviously hadn’t been watching a lot of his senior cohorts games. Some of them still don’t look ready to debut.

Great reply, thanks for that. Seems like a player that actually understands his overall position in the game, his progress and limitations - instead of wanting to play AFL just because.

I like the idea of him behind the ball.

He's too raw to be a long term key forward imo.

He might make it for 20-30 games, but long term I think he'd just be run of the mill with a good mark. See CCJ or a smaller version of Casbolt.

I could see a scenario where he forges a long career as a key back with those mits.

Liam Jones moved a bit unco like Moose does at times early days.

I'd really like to see him in the pre-season games start back on a quality mobile key forward. I.e Play him on Oscar Allen in the March tune up...

Ultimately I think Finnbar will get good game time against Melbourne in match sim and hopefully against west coast.

That will be the test as to where he’s at.

If he plays well there he’d just about be in serious contention for a debut.
Agree. If he does get a game l expect it to be in defence and not forward. So an injury to one of either Logue, Comben or Corr , l think will get him into the side but l think Teakle would still be ahead of him if a forward goes down..Then it's up to him.

If Joel Amartey or Mabior Chol can kick 35+ goals in a year there is absolutely no reason why Finnbar can't develop into a forward who can contribute at that level.

If he clunks 3-4 marks a game and kicks 1-2 goals that's a 30 goal season. I'd take that. Plus he's mobile enough to put some pressure on backmen. I hope he gets a crack at it.

I reckon there's a future for Moose, especially because he has one elite attribute (his marking), and has age, height and atheticism on his side. Could see him having a Majak or better career, but then again, he's on a one year rookie contract, so I'm not getting my hopes up yet.

In terms of position, I'd like to see him and Chom on opposite sides of the ground, because they have similar strengths and weaknesses. Don't like the idea of them both kicking out from the backline or flying for marks and spoiling eachother.
