3dTV's are the same as normal LCD/LED ones if you aren't watching 3d programs so if you're upgrading from an old CRT then 3dTV is the way to go. may as well, might take off. and you'll get to watch toy story 3 in 3d! the glasses work by switching left and right eyes off consecutively really really fast which is the same kind of process as magic eye. that means sport broadcasts on a new 200hz tv will be effectively reduced to 100hz, i.e. less smooth movement of ball/bat/player/umpire inanity. that's also why the glasses are expensive as they aren't the same as the green and red ones you previously got watching psychedelic movies in the 70s

Didn't buy a 3D TV because while 3D is not a fad, using glasses to watch 3D is.
