Wonder if Hobbs has shown as much class as Sonsie initially ? Heard Hobbs did ok in their intra club but Sonsie basically had no preseason. Of course Hobbs is purely inside whereas Sonsie seems to have more strings to his bow, one of the best kicks of the draft, dual sided as he's already shown, can play inside and outside and is a goal kicking mid.

Going to be a facinating watch and compare as they emerge.
I would be comparing the careers of Johnson v Sonsie

Both available at our 2nd selection and we passed on both but Johnson and Sonsie were both expected to go between 10-15

Fair call but we were never taking Johnson. We were into Hobbs up to the eyeballs and tried desperately to trade up for him. That's a fact.

That's why I made the comparison. We might actually jag someone better in the end anyway.

Which was why I said it was a fair call lol

Ok. Let's track Hobbs, Johnson and Sonsie and see who is the beneficiary in the end. Lmao

LOl ok but we didnt really have an option to draft Hobbs after selecting Gibcus , we just couldnt get a trade to get Hobbs
Johnson , Goater , Butler , Knevitt , MacDonald , Sonsie are the players we had available.

Lets hope we got the best mid from the 6 players

I had him top 10 in my draft rankings based purely on full potential with all things being equal and his start to the intra-club was so reassuring for our future.

If it's acceptable to have a player who hasn't debuted as your favourite Tiger, then I'm cashing in my chips right now. Kid's going to be so special.

Sonsie from the practice match

Great footy brain - right time right place
Good skills
Great build and pace
Had team mates shouting at him and directing him to be in the right spot. Not unexpected in his first year with injuries stopping him playing much.
Seriously looks like he belongs. Nowhere near Cotch or Dion, but that's also to be expected. Hopefully a great first year and he learns so much.

No one better too follow around in Cotchmeatball.

Will debut by rnd 4.
Dimma-"what i love about this kid, (Sonsie), is that he just found it 27 times on the weekend , he has some work to do on his fitness but one thing you can't teach a player is how to win the ball".

Reckon he'll playa bit this year. But mostly it'll be balout developing him. Get his tank and strength up. Learn the pace of AFL. Get a lot of the ball in the VFL.

Could be a ready made AFL mid for 2023 if we develop him well this year. Delicious.

He is our most complete mid that we have drafted in a very long time. Just needs a tank.
Should be the easiest thing to work on. I have huge hopes for this kids. He was in Top 5 calculations early but slipped because of motivation, attitude and injury all of which will be rectified at our club. He's already shown more in a few practice games than almost every one of our other midfield hopefuls. I think he has skills, smarts and confidence to become a star for us moving forward.

I am with you 100%

Could end up playing a shorter Angus brayshaw type role for tigers eventually. He doesn’t look like he hates the contested footy but is just far more dangerous on the outside.

Funnily enough, I think the player he reminds me of most is Adam Cerra.
I think he’ll be more like Cotchin. His work around contest is a thing of beauty, just like the former skipper. Hasn’t got the physique yet to bash and crash like Cotch if required, but he knows where to go to win a possession around contests. He’s going to be a ripping player imo

Looks like a mid who could also play wing, a bit like Ross is doing, but he actually looks like a natural wingman because of his run and carry. It is a strange one but he reminds me a little of Craig Bradley when he is on the move. We do not have a run and link proper mid, won't take him long and he will be pushing. Our VFL team with Stack, Cumberland, Sonsie, Browne and Dow is pretty exciting.

He will be straight in to the side if his fitness reaches the required level imo. Will be too good at VFL level

Completely agree. But he starting a long way back. I'm hoping they focus on development this year. And perhaps he'll be right on song come the end of the season and force his way in. Love to have another Graham type story.

Should imo play round 1.

Had it 27 times and ive read comments like his work rate working contest to contest is fantastic so fitness imo cant be such a big issue.
Hardwicks comment of what i love about this kid is he got it 27 times on the weekend he has some work to do on his fitness but one thing you cant teach a player is how to win the ball and he certainly does that.

Sometimes i wonder if we look too hard for reasons not to play kids.
