I'm not going to cast judgment on a woman that I do not know.

That said, it's clear that AMT has major issues with his childhood, unless he has been grossly misrepresented, which doesn't appear to be the case.

It would take pretty compelling evidence to the contrary to not give him the benefit of the doubt at the least.

it’s quite irrelevant what others say about Walla’s story. it’s his story.
I agree it's irrelevant what you, I or anyone not involved in this story have to say.

However, this is not just Walla"s snd Janes story. This is also Nola's story. Considering this has now been made public and with how she has been portrayed by Walla, someone was always going to try and get her side of the story as well.

Pity that this will be played out in public. There appears to be one person in particular that will be all over it.

Not about Walla, but a shame the following story didn't get much publicity. Good job big TBC and Jake.

Just as a little addendum to this, the club is doing some great work with the Tiwi islands. As outlined in the Tippa article, the suicide rate is extremes and there are other significant social hurdles that need to be overcome. The struggles are real but there is some progress being made, albeit with small steps.

Our alignment with Tiwi has been described as a free-kick in the goal square but much of this talent remains unfulfilled. Apparently Cyril Rioli has headed back up as a player/ mentor and there are some good community leaders working hard to turn things around. We may see some great players in the red and black as a result but there are more important things than football and lots of work to be done.

This year the club released a specific sponsorship package to aid the program up there and I'd love to see more of our sponsors dollars funnelled towards this rather than the standard player sponsorship that we do on a yearly basis.

Just putting it out there at this stage but I'd be interested if people would like to zero in on this a bit more.

There was always going to be a push-back from the Tiwi Islanders - AMT has left behind a troubled upbringing and made the courageous decision to move to Melbourne to achieve more in life - Some in the community will be envious of his success and how it poorly reflects on their society - Or some will say black on the outside and white on the inside.

It would be great to see government match any footy club investment dollar for dollar. (They should invest more though)

Agreed, it would be great for Nola and others to be able to have a right of reply but you'd think there wouldn't be a viable platform, nor interest to do so. It is what it is at the moment. Regardless, it's incredibly brave to share his story and put it out in the open, Walla's a great role model and we're very lucky to have him with us.

He didn't appear to go on the Tiwi trip which seems a bit unusual
The only player I've seen in the Tiwis this off-season so far is Bellchambers (and Melksham). I think most of the players went to Sydney for a team trip, and some went to Europe? There's still a couple of weeks until they'll be back for pre-season anyway I think.

Google gives me this which says it's a preseason trip and we go once every two years, article is dated November 20 2017. So probably in the first or second week after they start back. Timing should be pretty similar actually, 2017 is the year we made finals same as this year so the preseason start dates should be equivalent as well.

Looks like they're up there at the moment; Stringer, Mosquito and Gown.

Gosh darnit.
I wanna know why he's been in the modified group at training for at least a week and we are only now hearing vague details from a blithering newspaper reporter.

I can understand them keeping certain information under wraps, but if they're in the modified group and training where anyone can see them then it's clearly significant enough that they're having to do something visibly about it, and it's also not really a secret is it?
