It makes sense with his skill set. It looks like he gets overwhelmed at times trying to generate forward magic, his brain seems a couple of steps ahead of his body.

He'd benefit from have a clear, direct objective; hunt for the ball, win the ball, push it forward and hit link up/forward targets.

We moan about it sitting in his head, and our pissweak fwd entries, maybe an answer has been inside the arc. Imagine our forwards receiving his laser beam bullets.

I don't think it is as simple as what he does with ball in hand, it's what he does without it that makes it an exciting thing to think about. His ability to tackle, his speed, his aggression. Would make any opposition fwd ringe at the thought of being battered by an AMT tackle.

That's what I mean by hunt and win the ball, take on the player.

I was just ready to post this !!!!

In his younger days just starting our in the VFL we played him forward where he would do the odd exciting thing before a move to defence saw him really come to life as a player to watch. His dare and tenacity would be exciting for his team mates as he is quick, tackles well, likes to take the game on and often does make the right decision.

We have lacked some run from behind the ball despite all our options (Ridley, Redman, Saad etc.) in recent weeks, why not mix it up, we pushed Connor forward last start, why not throw caution to the wind here and give the 22 a shake up within that could be good for all.?

We like to try a lot of random and weird moves. Walla off of HB isn't one of them.
He has had some monstrous games as a forward, and overall he should play forward, but personally some of his standout games was when he was storming off of HB early on in his career.
As you said, you can then play McKenna forward. Or my preference is too bring Irving into the side for a HF role.

He really looks down on confidence which has lead to some out of character decisions - Just a theory, but I reckon some players would struggle more than others being in hub life and with the challenges and adversities of 2020. On the basis of nothing other than my own thoughts I wonder if he's just struggling a bit off field and it's carried to his on field performance?

Love Tippa, and can't wait to see him find his groove again soon.

Possibly, he's said he relies on support from the family down Gippsland a lot, and being a small forward in a struggling side is never going to be easy either.

yeah he's always seemed like a sensitive guy and close to family, so I just wonder if it's been a difficult transition.

All speculation of course, could be completely wrong.

If he wasn't injured I'd put him in the back pocket. Takes the best small attacker. Aaron Francis up to Half Back.
Move Redman up to Wing and replace Cutler. When I saw Redman on Charlie Cameron the other night I facepalmed myself.
It brought back memories of Henry Slattery on Eddie Betts, although I submit Redman is a far better player than Slattery.
But I digress....

Amazing how much he goes to ground. I don't think it's ever worked out in his favour when he does, but continues to go to the well.

Watched him closely he just chases half hearted unless the ball is 5m from him. Hurts us with overlap as 4-5 players just run pass him when the opposition attacks.

100th game this week!

Can we get the year worth of posts that are missing from his player thread back?

This is something I've thought about as well. When you consider what he said in the interview he did last year about how close he is to his mum and how much he relies on her, you'd have to think hub life wouldn't be easy for him.

Hope he lifts for his 100th game, is sad he can't have his family there. Amazing effort for him to make 100 games considering the challenges he's had to overcome.

Either has the worst quality boots in the AFL, or has the worst balance in footy. Spends a solid 80% of game time slipping to the ground

Looks to pass off way too many times. He's our best set shot at goal.

He needs to be told if you get it anyway, anyhow in the 50, take a shot. Do not give it to anyone else ever.

Been pretty good all year and the club is doing him no favours by playing so many pedestrian people around him. If we had another few more athletic fast guys fit and healthy he'd probably have a lot more goals this year.

Another couple of 3 goal games and he could sneak into a AA squad selection, although I doubt he gets in the side ahead of Butler and Wallis (as it stands). Papley, Cameron and L Ryan the other possibilities.

I would argue this has been a poor year by his standards. Good to see him back at his best tho

No doubt, but he's basically delivering similar results in goals per game whilst being only a little bit down in the other areas.

Had an average year and only 3 goals behind Papley. Imagine if he didn’t constantly give them off, hed have 25 or so.
