I'm not saying it's guaranteed, just what's expected of a 3rd tall forward/back up ruckmen.I don't see it. He should be a break glass only option.
He didn't provide 5 competitive minutes in the ruck last year. As a forward, goals aren't really important for him, just running patterns and distance covered. He needs to run his arse off to create space for his teammates, think Ben Brown's first years with Petrie. Last year he mostly stood deep forward and tried to take pack marks.
You're right that goals aren't super important from him. But he still needs to contribute, a goal a game is a reasonable expectation. He was averaging that last year until the s**tshow of the last fortnight.
Hopefully Darling will be able to help him, with his leading patterns. Still need Brynn to put himself in the target slot from time to time, can't always be Souv.
He's not a very good ruckmen
But if he can at least break 40-60 while X has a breather it's enough.
Competing with Pink and Finnbar for a spot, he starts ahead of them imo.
