Looking at the first few pages and it was dripping with sentiment toward how much of a great addition to the club he'd be. How he'd carve up, how silky he was, how much he'd compliment Cripps in the midfield.

What happened?
We stopped playing him in the midfield for some dumb-**** reason.

We cant have 10 players running through the midfield.

If SPS couldnt squeeze Walsh, Cripps, Ed, Dow etc from the midfield and excuse was playing out of position then thats an indictment on the player.

Jack played in the ruck and Stocker half back I have not seen them sook it up once.

Need more players that are flexible to coaches demands - or see ya.

I'm not sure if this has been brought up yet so apologies if it has.
SPS to the West Coast seems like a logical fit. If we get a 2nd round pick, take it. I know this could come back to bite us and I understand.
However, SPS pressure ratings wouldn't be of an AFL standard. He's got skills, precision and undoubted talent. No question. Yet, WCE would be perfect due to their pressure rating being so low and ranked 18th with the way they defend the man and carrell opposition rather than front on pressure. This seems harsh and I wished for him to stay to develop the weaknesses he has, but I don't think he's willing to go the extra yard, therefore, take the 2nd round pick and move on.
Not happy as I write this, but it seems to be for the best.

He doesn’t need to play in the guts. Plays well off a wing. How Newnes got games ahead of him is beyond me.

I think Michael Voss has exactly what SPS needs and will require him to excel in areas that is deficient in currently.... Unless we get a very low draught pick 19 or lower I be keeping him unless there is a player swap[ like Brander]

Not sure why you think it is an unusual statement

If Teague was still around, you could certainly make a case that SPS is leaving due to Teague

But, let's say he is leaving because of Teague, should we apply this to other players ?

AFAIK no other players want to leave...

It's fair to say... Under Teague and Co, SPS being forced to play out of position down back and
then on the outer, would have contributed to his decision.

Mightn't be the only reason, but to say Teague has no influence, wouldn't be entirely true.

At the end of the day both of us don't know 100%...
but what we do know... It's an exciting new chapter at Carlton now, if SPS doesn't want to be part of that I wish him the best...

If Teague remained at the club, I could concede your thoughts

If Voss sees him as a mid/forward (his preferred role) and wants him to remain, but still wants out, how is that Teagues fault

I have no idea about it, but I wonder if there is also a COVID aspect, not being able to see family etc... Whatever happens, wishing Samo all the best...

Ah, I see what you mean now...

If that happens then yes I would agree with you...
But I doubt that has happened yet as Voss is hours in the job, so can only comment on the past..

Voss very clear that one of his key mantras will be commitment to the contest. Enough evidence to suggest SPS doesn't have this in his game
Someone else made a really good post that West Coasts high possession low tackle game style actually suits Samo down to a tee.
I’m hoping Voss is going to bring a high contest & high tackle style which based on his career output probably won’t suit Samo.
Either way he is the type of player (like Fisher) who’s only ever really going to play a blinder when the team is on top and I couldn’t imagine him being the instigator of a comeback win.

Agreed his issue is work ethic not talent. Needs to commit to a tough pre-season and take it up a notch.

I agree we was on midfield player, I’m. Not sure his fitness was up to multiple games there.

He definitely didn’t go back on dominate in the 2nds like he should have when playing midfield. If he wanted it he should have busted his ass and proved where he belonged.

I remember Andrew Carrazzo constantly having 40+games in the 2nd when he was dropped. He turned out alright

Wish SPS the best.

We have a slow midfield group and SPS is slow as well. Dinky 20 metre sideways kicks and low metres gained.

Maybe it was Carlton development that was the problem. I think it is the right decision. I’d hold Kennedy over SPS. And many of the other slow midis we have.

Maybe surrounded by more speed at WCE he might do better…that and the last chance pressure.
